Wild Ferns Bee Venom Face Mask from New Zealand : Youth Elixir

If this works for Kate Middleton, I am pretty sure it works for most of us too. And if it didn’t poison her, I am sure it is safe for us to use. But always do a patch test before heading straight to use this amazing product.

Wild Ferns New Zealand Bee Venom Face mask is nature’s youth elixir a.k.a natural botox.

This product might be a huge turn off for vegans but rest assured that the bee venom is obtained through ethical and humane means. As how Wild Ferns has put it across on their website, they are using a patented collection device for the venom that doesn’t kill the bees. The device consists of a glass sheet that conducts an electric current to induce the bees to stick out their stingers and pump out a small amount of venom. I am still not sure if I like the sound of this but one thing for sure, this product really works wonders.

Combined with active manuka honey, the bee venom face mask helps to:
– improve blood circulation around the skin
– increase collagen and elastin production
– firm and plump up skin tissue for a youthful appearance
– moisturize the skin

It has a cream-based formula where you will apply thinly all over your face, avoiding the eye area and leave it on for about 20 minutes. After washing off the product, you will feel that your skin gets plumped up and looks more radiant. For me, my skin felt so much smoother and lifted. You can use this on a daily basis.

However, it is important to do a patch test before using the product because there are a number of people who are allergic to bee stings. Stop using the product if you notice any rashes or skin abnormalities within 24 hours after application.

For me, I did the patch test and my skin did not work up so I went ahead to try the mask.

It also contains Royal Jelly, Green Tea, Lavender Oil, Avocado Oil, Vitamin E, Canola Oil, Shea Butter and Menthol. It is paraben-free and mineral oil-free. It is also not tested on animals.

After applying the cream, you might experience a slight tingling or stinging effect on your skin which will subside within a couple of minutes. The moment I experience this sensation, my skin instantly felt firmer and smoother. Instead of ‘poisoning us’, what this venom does is to trick the skin that it has been stung so this causes blood to be directed to that area and stimulate collagen production.

But do note that the stinging sensation gradually dwindles after each usage as your skin gets sensitized to the bee venom.

The cream is quite rich so just apply thinly will do. Remember to wash everything off your face after 20 minutes with water.

I like to use this mask just before I apply my night skincare products as it preps my skin to absorb all the serums and moisturizers.

What’s so special about the bee venom? And how does it works?

The bee venom itself comprises a mixture of proteins, peptides, and enzymes. In fact, one of the most prominent compound called melittin has antiviral and anti-bacterial properties. Bee venom is used to treat health woes like high blood pressure, arthritis and multiple sclerosis.

So shouldn’t we get ourselves stung by bees? Although it doesn’t kill us, the concentration of the venom in one sting is certainly higher than the concentration of the venom used in one application of the bee venom face mask. Ever got stung by a bee? I am sure it hurts like crazy.
