iHerb Vegan-Friendly Skincare Haul

IMG_0835

This has been an overdue post as I’ve actually bought all these products from iHerb a couple of months back. The reason why I delay the post because I wanted to test out the products for a longer period of time before reviewing. Now, these products I’ve chosen are based on the reviews contributed on iHerb and I painstakingly scrutinised the list of best-selling beauty products to pick up 5 vegan-friendly products which would suit my current skincare needs.

My skin has been really oily yet dry this season so I was looking for some products to control my acne problem. And my beauty therapist would time and time stress that I need to exfoliate my skin well which I did with facial scrubs. So maybe, they aren’t working that well?

Let’s start rolling!

My facial toner is running out so I got this Aloe + Willow Bark Pore Minimizer (Clarifying) by Andalou Naturals. Andalous Naturals is 100% Non-GMO Beauty Paraben and Sulfate free. It is also vegan and cruelty-free. It is not entirely organic but it contains some certified organic ingredients.
It consists of fruit stem cell complex, willow bark extract, and aloe vera polysaccharides remove dull skin cells, debris, and excess oil that can clog pores and increase breakouts. It claims that it purifies, refines and gently exfoliates to reduce the appearance of enlarged pores for a tighter, smoother, cleaner complexion.

Although I haven’t really seen my pores getting smaller, I enjoy using the product because of its astringent effect it gives. It gives my skin this cooling sensation when applied. It isn’t too drying too.

Ingredients: Aloe barbadensis juice* hamamelis virginiana (witch hazel)*, panthenol (Pro-vitamin B5), tocopherol (vitamin E), lauric acid, fruit stem cells (malus domestica, solar vitis) and bioactive 8 berry complex*, epilobium angustifolium (willow herb) extract, magnesium ascorbyl phosphate (vitamin C), salix alba (willow bark) and spiraea ulmaria (meadowsweet) extracts*, salicylic acid, aspalathus linearis (rooibos), hibiscus sabdariffa and camellia sinensis (white tea) extracts*†, phenethyl alcohol, ethylhexylglycerin, cinnamomum camphora (camphor) oil, mentha piperita (peppermint) and thymus vulgaris (thyme) oils*

The second product I bought which I thought it would fight acne is Derma E Overnight Peel with Alpha Hydroxy Acids. I also chose it because the reviews for this product is good and some of the customers mentioned that it has minimise their pore size. It acts an exfoliant to remove the dead skin layer and resurfaces to reveal fresher, younger looking skin with night time use. It is fragrance-free.

Their products are cruelty-free and 100% vegan. It contains no parabens, phthalates, sodium lauryl sulfate, petrolatum, mineral oil, artificial colours or GMOs.

So the Overnight Peel is an Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) resurfacing treatment designed to visibly soften, smoothen and rejuvenate skin with night time use. It brightens skin with a 5% blend of glycolic acid plus other fruit acids. It safely renews surface cells with a pH of 3.5. It is said to improve the appearance of uneven texture, tone and pigmentation.

When I first used it, I experienced this mild transient tingling sensation but after subsequent use, I no longer have that tingling sensation. And I only use it about 2 times a week but so far, it has not much effect on my skin but I will still continue to use it and see if there is any improvements to my skin. If you are trying this out for the first time, I highly recommend that you do a patch test first.

You should use it after cleansing, before moisturizer. Do avoid the eye area too.

This Badger Damascus Rose with Lavender & Chamomile is apparently quite popular and since I was still looking for a good sunblock, I decided that I should try this brand of sunblock.
It is a Broad Spectrum SPF25 Zinc Oxide Face Sunscreen. They uses 100% Certified Natural with all ingredients are sustainably sourced from plants, minerals or are a product of fermentation.
I had no idea if it was suppose to be tinted or not because it comes out as a creamy white paste with some streaks of orange or beige tints. The herbaceous smell is very distinct which really proves how much herbs and plant extracts going into it.
Although it is cream-based, the formula is light-weight and it doesn’t give me as much problem as other cream-based sunblock. It is a good product.
Ingredients: Non-Nano Uncoated Zinc Oxide, *Aloe barbadensis (aloe) juice, *helianthus annuus (sunflower) oil, coco-glucoside, cetearyl alcohol (and) coco-glucoside, sambucus nigra (elderberry) fruit extract, microcrystalline cellulose (and) cellulose gum, glucose oxidase, *punica granatum (pomegranate) seed oil, *glycerin, citric acid, sorbitan caprylate, glyceryl caprylate, *lavandula angustifolia (lavender) flower oil, xanthan gum, *hippophae rhamnoides (seabuckthorn) fruit extract, *rosa canina (rosehip) fruit extract, undecylenic acid, *rosa damascena (rose) flower oil, lecithin, sodium gluconate, *anthemis nobilis (chamomile) flower oil, *calendula officinalis (calendula) flower extract.

This is another popular beauty product on iHerb. I’ve used Now Foods serums before but I find that the previous one I used was average and likewise for this serum too. I was confuse with the benefits of this product. I felt that it doesn’t really hydrates my skin or lifts the skin. And it does leaves a yellowish tint on my skin. Perhaps it is not absorbing well into my skin but I am still going to test it out for a few more weeks.

Maybe it is more suited for more mature skin but I am definitely going to use it a little longer as such products which uses natural ingredients takes a longer time for the benefits to be seen physically.

I wasn’t new to this hair serum as my friend has recommended this hair serum to me before and it works really well! This is the best buy among all the other iHerb beauty products.

It leaves my hair feeling smooth and soft. I prefer to use it on slightly damp or dry hair as I find that the product gets absorbs easily into the hair cuticle.
