Botani Purify Facial Cleanser : I’ve Switched to Organic Skincare Products

“Now, you don’t have to pay for the brand but you pay for the efficacy of the product.”

After switching to organic skincare brands, I really start to wonder why there are chemical-laden skincare products available in the market to begin with. The good news is that you don’t have to pay extra for a product just because it is branded with a label associated with branded good. For natural or organic certified skincare products, you are simply paying for the botanical extracts and the technology to extract it. It’s even better if you purchase from social-conscious enterprises who uses recyclable and biodegrable packaging or support a green cause to offset their carbon footprint.

Botani, an Australian organic skincare brand, has never failed to amaze me with their way of showing how effective plant extracts are in beautifying our skin so naturally. I love their serums and scrubs but I love their facial cleanser even more.

Botani Purify facial cleanser, like the other Botani products, consists of organic certified ingredients and does not contain any animal-derived ingredients, synthetic emulsifiers, benzoyl peroxide or petrochemicals. It’s interesting to note that benzoyl peroxide is highlighted as one of the harmful ingredients which they proudly claim that is not found in Botani products. This ingredient is commonly found in a lot of skincare products to treat acne, especially pimple creams and cleansers for acne skin. However, it was discovered that benzoyl peroxide can be too drying for the skin and sometimes causes skin irritations for some individuals.

Is there a way to treat acne then? The answer lies in nature. The truth is that you don’t have to use any harsh chemical on your skin to ‘zap the acne bacteria’ for it to be effective because there are other gentle and safer ways of doing so.

I was scrutinizing Botani’s Purify Facial Cleanser to look for an answer. And there it is! Coco-betaine. How could I have missed that?  This is a coconut-derived cleansing agent and surfactant which has a mild germicidal effect. Along with this natural ingredient is a bunch of botanical oils that helps to moisturize and nourish the skin naturally as you cleanse.

I wouldn’t even think that you will need a toner after that. In fact, I was told that the toning step is just a marketing tactic employed by brands to convince a toner is necessary.

After you have cleansed your skin with a cleanser, apply some natural moisturizing product and that’s about it. I love it. It’s so simple and fuss-free. You don’t need to apply a ton of products to get great skin. Besides, this product is suitable for all skin types.

I’ve been using this product for about three weeks now and it has helped me a lot in reducing the occurrence of clogged pores, pimples, and blackheads at my T-zone area.

Directions:

I would use about 2 pumps worth of product onto my palms and gently massage onto my skin in circular motions. You can add a little water if you find that it is easier to cleanse when it is more diluted but it works fine for me without any water added.

Like most organic skin cleansers, there is not much foaming going on. But what really differentiates this cleanser from the other organic cleansers is the beautiful blend of plant oils that they used to provide this pleasant aromatic experience for the user. The scent is so soothing and calming. It’s like a relaxing ritual to cleanse your face and inhale the calming scent of lavender, grapefruit seed oil and tea tree oil.
