December is a wishing month. You make wishes for both Christmas and the New Year. Well, maybe not every wish will come true but by making a wish each year, you will have at least to work for and look forward in the coming year. It isn’t any wrong to have a glimpse of hope, a leap of faith that your wishes or dreams will come true one day? Those Walt Disney’s cartoons have always taught me, as a kid, that miracles and reality can really intertwine. You know, it’s a really beautiful thing to be able to have the opportunity to make a wish for the future. Life has become more meaningful and purposeful for me whenever I wish upon a star.
This month, in the celebration of the MarinaBay Countdown Singapore for 2013, there are wishing stations set-up all over our little red dot for anyone ( tourists are welcome too!) to pen down their wishes on the wishing spheres. These wishing spheres will set afloat in the Marina Bay waters before New Year’s Day itself. It would be a spectacular sight to see that our nation’s hopes and dreams are contained at the heart of Singapore, floating on waters which is also connected to Singapore River. That’s our bay of hope for the coming years. I mean, how cool is that?
Want to be part of this? From now til 16 December, if you are heading to town to shop for Christmas presents or to the library to read, do keep a look out for the Wishing Sphere volunteers dressed in black manning a station with several big white balls. ( Kudos to them for volunteering to man the stations!) You just simply need to approach them and they will hand you a black permanent marker for you to scribble down your wishes for 2013. With a marker and an empty space on the sphere, you could get creative by sketching, drawing and decorating your own writing space. Emblazon it with little hearts and stars or draw a picture of yourself or your dream house for the future.
Make a wish today!
The best part is making a wish is free. You don’t even need to invest a coin in the wishing well to make a wish. Here’s a list of the locations of wishing stations you could head over to.

But if you could not make it down, you could still pen down your wishes virtually on the wishing sphere! For more information, visit MarinaBay Countdown Singapore 2013 website to find out more about the Wishing Sphere Project.
I brought Esther along to pen down her wish at CityLink Mall’s wishing station, right opposite TCC . And what did she wish for? Peace and joy. May peace be with you, Esther! |
She adds that final touch. Remember to sign off with your initials! |
That’s me, penning down my heartfelt wishes. I’ve been thinking what to write on this sphere for weeks! |
