Just as I was typing this blog post, it was pouring outside. It may seem like an occasion for us to cheer and applaud for the rain to cool down our island which its grounds had been radiating a lot of heat lately.
However, with the constant pour from the sky, I reckon the weather would get more humid. During such uncomfortable weather situations, you need to replenish your body with lots of fluid to keep your body in balance and hydrated all the time.
Instead of creating recipes to fill the stomach, this time I decided to do a simple beverage recipe using lemons, strawberries and honey. The yellow citrus fruit is going to give you a healthy dose of vitamin C to boost your immune system.
Here’s a little twist to the usual way of preparing lemonade.
The Ingredients
I bought Happy Sheep Honey because it was on sale at NTUC for SGD9.20! I could only select between Lemon honey or strawberry honey. Since I’ve never tasted strawberry honey, I thought I might as well just grab a bottle of it. I could already imagine the honey looking slightly reddish or pink with the strawberry juice or essence blended in.
It turns out that I was wrong about the colour of the honey. It looks like and tastes like honey with just a little hint of strawberry taste in it.
The Lemonade Recipe
Ingredients:
Half a lemon
A few strawberries
1 Tablespoon of Honey Some ice cubes
How to prepare the lemonade?
I squeeze about half a lemon then add a tablespoonful of honey to it and mix it well in a cup. Then slice the strawberries into small chunks and toss it in the drink. Add some water if the drink is too sweet. Be sure to throw in some ice cubes for a refreshing cooler. Garnish the cup with a slice of lemon and serve.
If you’re serving this homemade beverage to your family, friends or guests, everyone’s going to thank you for cooling their hearts and minds down.
I hope the weather would be once cooling again for everyone here in Singapore. Enjoy 🙂
