This recipe idea is not something new because this absolutely brilliant way of preparing a fat-free, dairy-free and gluten-free soft serve ice-cream has been highly recommended by many online. Initially, I didn’t quite bought over the fact that this recipe only requires frozen chopped bananas. How on earth can you transform a fresh and natural fruit into soft-serve ice-cream?

I put this guilt-free recipe to the test.

Bananas is a heart-healthy fruit. This potassium-packed fruit guards the body against heart diseases such as high blood pressure and atherosclerosis. This fruit is also a good remedy for digestive tract problems  due to its presence of fructo-oligosaccharide, a prebiotic substance which activates probiotics to function. I would always remember how my mum would try to stuff me with bananas whenever I had constipation problems when younger.

More then often, some would advise those on a weight-loss diet to avoid bananas due to its high sugar content. But I beg to differ. Whether you’re trying to lose weigh or not, you should eat a variety of fruits in moderation and not limit yourself to certain fruit types. As long as you’re eating clean and natural food stuff in moderation, it should add more value to your health than to your weight.

Some recipes recommends slicing the banana into thin coin-like slices before putting it into the freezer so that the frozen thin slices of banana could be whipped by easily by the blender. Freeze the chopped bananas for about 3 to 4 hours.

I actually tried placing the whole banana with the skin in-tact into the freezer but that puts a little more stress on the blender to purée the large chunks of frozen bananas. You may also realize that if you left the frozen bananas to thaw for about 10 minutes, you will also get this creamy consistency which resembles pretty much like ice-cream. In other words, you could skip the blending step and just nibble on the frozen bananas which turned ultra creamy upon freezing.

If the banana slices are too stiff and hard to blend, you might want to add in a splash of water or milk to that it is easier for the blender to blend it up. After you freezing and blending, this is what you’ll get.

As for taste-wise, it’s quite exhilarating to be eating this on a warm day because of the icy-cool feeling that soothes your throat and natural burst of sweetness from the bananas.
