Frizz is probably in my genes. My thin, fine and unruly hair is made worse after several cycles of chemical treatments which involves curling, rebonding and hair-dyeing. Life doesn’t seem any better when the most important woman in my house (a.k.a Mommy) is nagging at me to snip of my long damaged tresses so that my hair looks less frizzy and neater. Mom, there’s no way I’m going to cut my long manes. Do you know why hair is important to a young woman? Because it takes like a month or so to have an extra centimetre of hair growth to achieve that long lucious locks which men find it so attractive.
Fighting frizz has been a constant battle for me and during those times when I surrendered, I would console myself with positive thoughts that having frizzy hair isn’t that bad. Frizzy hair gives your hair a slight va-va-vroom expansion in volume that would pretty much give you this out-of-bed sexy look. But I guess I wouldn’t want to have the out-of-bed look for the rest of life so this year, I made a pledge to smoothen my manes, so that it shines just like Jennifer Aniston’s hair.
I’ve tried several anti-frizz styling products, shampoos and even hair serums that did tame down the frizz but the effect only lasted temporarily. Maintaining a frizz-free hair could be made easier with good quality hair products like John Frieda’s Frizz-ease range which offers a salon-calibre results to product you that after-salon hair effect – sleek and smooth.

I’ve been given the full John Frieda’s Frizz-Ease haircare range to test out on its ability to smoothen and tames frizz of Asian hair. After using their products for about two weeks now, there’s no doubt about this product’s efficacy in smoothing, hydrating and aligning frizzy hair for styling to achieve straight hairstyles.
Before straightening the manes, you first have to prep your hair by providing full hydration and moisture to your hair so that the hair cuticles are soften for easier styling. The Straight Ahead Shampoo has a lightweight formula that leaves your hair and scalp feeling and light after the wash. But the formula is rather runny, so it only required little force to dispense the product.
The Straight-Ahead shampoo is specially developed with straight-defining complex, essential moisturizers and frizz-fighting silicone to soften the hair and tame frizz. The scent of the shampoo is rather light, not particularly heavy which would linger on the hair as the focus of the product is not in the scent, but in the treatment of frizzy hair that is resulted from dryness.
|The lightweight formula of the shampoo is quite watery.|
John Frieda Frizz-Ease Straight-Ahead Conditioner (250 ml)
I’m not a fan of hair conditioners because I felt that it doesn’t condition and nourish my hair well as compared to hair mask or hair serums so I usually skip the hair conditioning step. Though hair conditioners and after-hair care products do nourish, moisturize and strenghthen the hair, each of the products work distinctly from each other and are irreplaceble. The hair conditioner, which is used after shampooing, helps to replenish the moisture which is stripped off by the chemicals found in the shampoo that is targeted at removing dirt and grim.
You might not want to skip the conditioning step especially if your hair is prone to breakage or tangling during combing because the conditioner, like John Frieda’s Frizz-Ease Straight-ahead conditioner contains ingredients that smoothen, calms and streamlines the hair cuticles, for easy combing and styling.
Once every three to four days, I would use a dollop of Miraculous recovery intensive masque and apply the product generously onto my hair ends.I would first towel-dry my hair before applying the hair mask to that the water barrier between the hair and product is reduced and the hair product will get absorbed better into each hair strands. With a prescriptive formula with milk protein, vitamin E and avocado oil, this product can turn dry and brittle hair to soft and ultra-glossy hair instantly. But to get that after-salon silky hair effect, you will need to comb and blow-dry your hair on cool-setting to seal hair cuticles so that it helps to lock up all the moisture. Leaving your hair to dry on its own might not give you that ultra-glossy effect because the humidity in the hair might cause your hair to be dried unevenly. If you want that model-looking glossy hair, you will need to invest some time and effort to blow-dry and style your hair straight. This also explains why your hair looks much better after a hair treatment done in the salon as compared to your DIY hair treatments done at home.
John Frieda Frizz-Ease Hair Serum Original Formula (50 ml)
Last but not least, remember apply frizz-ease hair serum which helps to block frizz. This serum needs to be applied on damp or semi-dried hair then blow-dry after use. It contains UV-filter and it repels humidity to help prevent weather-related frizz.
This award-winning hair serum has won several accolades in both UK and US.It’s winning factor lies in the lightweight texture of the serum which has non-sticky formula that absorbs readily into the hair. With my long hair, I needed about two pumps of serum to give my hair a smooth-finished look. To achieve a better hair shine, apply it on damp hair and blow-dry to seal the hair cuticle.
If you’re new to John Frieda’s products and would like to try out their Frizz-Ease range, you might want to invest in a bottle of their award-winning hair serum which one is sold every 30 seconds (according to Uk SIG retail unit sales data, MAT 3rd November 2012).
I belong to the category of lazy bums when it comes to hair styling as I almost never bother to twirl or tidy hair before I step out the house but these days, I learnt that using alcohol-free styling products could also help control your hair frizz problem!
I do not have curls right now as my waves and curls in my hair as softened a year after perming. If you have permed hair and would like to revive your curls, this Curl Perfecting spray by John Frieda could help transform wilted waves and curls into sexy swerves, curves and spirals.
