The TWG Experience @ Marina Bay Sands Shoppes

I’ve always wanted to dine in this British-style tea salon in Singapore called TWG at Marina Bay Sands, The Shoppes but I did not have the chance to do so til last Sunday, where I had tea with Charleen, the food writer of Gninethree. You will never have to fuss about what food or beverage to order when you’re dining out with a food connoisseur who are experts at studying menus and knows how to select their mains and desserts. For me, I don’t often make really wise choices, especially when it comes to food. But my hunch for delicious food is getting a little better after each food tasting sessions.

This is the TWG experience – seated in posh setting with prim white linen table cloth, ultra shiny and polished teaspoons with dainty tea cups placed on the table right before you.

Charleen suggested trying out the TWG’s tea-infused ice-creams and sorbets. So she ordered Napoleon tea ( black tea with caramelized macadamia nuts) while I ordered Sakura! Sakura! Tea (sakura blossoms, green tea and red berries).

We were spoilt for choice when it coames to tea. TWG probably has the widest tea selection as compared to other tea salons or cafes in Singapore. With hundred over type of tea blends, it’s going to take you some time to choose the type of tea to go with your patisseries. My best bet would be green tea since green tea is recognised as a health tea with numerous health benefits.

In addition to the tea-infused delicacies, we also ordered tarte tatin, which is pretty much similar to an apple tart with a small scoop of vanilla ice-cream. But at TWG, the tart layer is pretty thin but crisp and the sliced apples were stewed to perfection. It’s quite irresistable, I must say!

The sight of it jsut makes you feel so blissful and happy.

Large chunks of stewed apples – that’s the best part of the tarte.

Three essential ingredients : the stewed apples, tarte layer and cold vanilla bourbon tea. You will need to combine all three of it to fully experience it’s sensational taste.
Though the TWG experience comes at a cost, it’s worth just being there to soak up the experience of being treating like a royalty.
