It was nearing halloween so when I heard a creepy voice and the roar of the thunder, my mind started to wonder away. The flashes of red lights behind the doors sets the creepy atmosphere.
” I SEE DEAD PEOPLE…”
That voice really sent shivers down my spine. Look’s like Frederick Lee was really in the mood for halloween and I hope that he is not out there to spook us off the runway…
Maybe there will be monster or zombies bursting through the doors with blood dripped all over?
My nerves were somewhat more calmed when Emily Hwang appeared in a sleek body-hugging black dress along with two hunks with antlers ptrotruding out from their head. That sensational opening marked the spooky yet entertaining opening of Frederick Lee’s fashion show for FIDé Fashion Weeks 2013. I mean, seriously, though I was feeling half-scared that I would be spook out by zombies, I am now excited to know what’s comes next. Frederick Lee, you do know how to build suspense and anticipation among the audience!
More flashes. More spooky tunes and BAM! The doors flung open with the first model looking all fiesty and fierce in her voluminous dress. Oh yes, I can tell that she’s feeling it too. Her piercing eyes and blood red vampire lips held me like a vice-like grip but it didn’t send me fleeing for life, instead, it had my eyes glued to her hauntingly attractive outfit. I have no idea how ‘death’ and ‘horror’ could be so seamlessly brought together with ‘elegant’, ‘stunning’ which translates into women’s couture. And there’s only one man – Frederick Lee who can handle this oxymoron – terrifying beautiful – which in essence reflects his gothic collection.
The first dress was mind-blowing – what about the subsequent pieces? I’m pretty sure that most of the audience were not seated at the edge of their chairs, anticipating what our local designer had to offer.
The pieces were all of the same theme but were uniquely different even though they are made using black coloured fabrics. But Frederick Lee has cleverly mixed and matched different textures of fabrics, with intricately-designed lace, feathers and leather to give it a luxurious feel to the garments.
This was by far one of the most exciting fashion show I’ve watched during FIDé Fashion Weeks 2013. My hands were shaking with trepidation with my heart beating with excitement. Everything seemed perfect – from the lighting, red backdrop, models, makeup, ambience, dresses and music. And every angle of the model wearing Frederick Lee’s gothic clothes were picture perfect. There’s no doubt about the effort and thought put into every single detail of the fashion show.
Everything just looked good through the lens. No wonder all the photographers were so thrilled!
Notice how the light sheer cloth flutters and breezes through the air, looking like subtle patches of dark clouds floating in the air. The only thing missing was a bright yellow moon with a haunting castle as the backdrop. Morticia from The Addams Family would totally rock in this outfit.
This gothic couture by Frederick Lee was certainly very refreshing on the runway because who would have thought that gothic-themed clothes would able to make women looked so sexy and desirable.
The last piece with gold-painted feathers was made fit for the independent and bold queen – the strong and incredibly powerful woman who can make men go weak on their knees.
I’m loving the intensity in her eyes.
That’s Frederick Lee, donned in white, with his bouquet of flowers. He appeared as the ‘angel’ among his dark angels.
This self-taught fashion designer is incredibly talented for making glamorous wedding gowns too.
Oh, he’s looking right into my camera!
“I will be back.”
I’m left in awe while looking into her eyes with shuddering fascination.
