The truth has been revealed. Store-bought salad dressings aren’t exactly healthy as they contain preservatives and other ingredients that are tasty but high in fat and calorie. It does seems like the next best option is to make your own salad dressing at home. But hey, how on earth am I going to create a thousand island or ranch sauce dressing to enhance the taste and flavour of my raw veggies? Well, the thing is you don’t exactly need to create a savoury salad dressings for your salad because semi-sweet fruity dressings goes really well with the greens too! I just discovered that a couple of weeks ago when I was popping my head in the fridge to search for some fresh ingredients where I could make a unique dressing for my salads. It turns out to be really good when I first tried it. And because it’s so easy, simple, nutritious and yummy, I just had to share it with you guys.
You wouldn’t believe how easy it is to make your own salad dressing from scratch. All you will need is 3 ingredients and a blender.
Strawberry Citrus Salad Dressing
Preparation time: 3 minutes
3 Medjool Dates (pitted)
4 tablespoons of fresh lime juice
Blend the strawberries, medjool dates and lime juice together til you achieve an even consistency. Add some water into the blender if the dressing is too thick. Drizzle the dressing over your favourite bowl of garden salad and enjoy!
Notice that there are some green specks in the dressing? That’s because I blend the strawberries with the leaves attached to it. Who says you can’t eat the leaves from the strawberry plant? That’s added chlorophyll for you to take in as you savour the strawberries.
Eating healthy is quite a challenging task for me this year with my increase workload. And I need to admit that I haven’t been eating mindfully for since the first day of 2014. Hopefully, I am able to hold on the reins and control my horses!
Don’t let your horses control you. You’re the master of your life.
