May the 4th Be With You

I woke up on my birthday morning to several birthday messages on Facebook and WhatsApp wishing me, “May the 4th be with you.” And as a non-Star Wars geek fan, I was puzzled as to why everyone seems to be familiar with this saying when I don’t even know about it. So, apparently, it’s a Star Wars Day? So besides sharing the same birthday as Audrey Hepburn, I was born on a day where Star Wars fan celebrates this special day with laser beam swords and people in Darth Vader suits. Now, that adds new meaning to my special day.

So, my 4th of May starts with a traditional local breakfast at Yakun with Xue Ying.

And after my pop piano and ukulele lessons at Bugis, I met up with Esther for dinner at The Soup Spoon before heading over to Sentosa to catch the Last Song of The Sea Night Extravaganza at Siloso Beach!

I’m a loyal fan of The Soup Spoon and I usually drink their warm tomato or pumpkin soup that tasted super yummy! And their crusty pot pie is absolutely delicious. Please try it if you haven’t!
If only I could be The Soup Spoon’s ambassador…

So, we hop onto Sentosa express train at Sentosa Station, in Vivo City. It took us about 10 minutes to reach Siloso Beach!

Perhaps it was a figment to say that I’ve watched this award-winning waterworks performance a long time ago because in reality, I have not watched it before. It was my first and very last time watching this beautifully choreographed waterworks show that captures the hearts of the audiences that night.

There were several woos and ahhs whenever the spectacular pyrotechnics displays sprung up out of the blue and water jets shoots right up in the sky. All of us gasp (include myself) at our seats when there were balls of flames bursting right before our eyes. Everything felt to surreal with the laser beams, heat from the flames and a fountain of water that forms a glittery background against the night sky. For some very strange reasons, I felt that there was romance in the air – almost like watching fireworks in Hong Kong Disneyland.

I wish I had brought along my DSLR to take better pictures though but it seems like my camera phone works just as well.

I remembered that I was smiling widely as I was watching the performance.
Songs of the Sea has been running for 7 years! And as a Singaporeans, I didn’t even get a chance to watch it till today and I believe that not many Singaporeans had watched this spectacular display of water and lightworks either.
