iHerb Haul : Ingredients used in Breakfast Bowls

I am always spoilt for choices whenever I am doing online shopping in iHerb. My only wish now is that to be able to shop for fresh produce online so that I don’t have to make frequent trips to the supermarket anymore!
Besides trying to eat clean and stay fit, I am also trying to take a bigger step in protecting our environment. Going zero waste is my next goal in reducing waste and practise recycling. Several European countries like France area already taking the first time to introduce BYO packaging supermarkets that support zero waste.
When it comes to the meals I eat, I going for the more minimalistic meals. It doesn’t have to be too fancy just wholesome and delicious. I am also experimenting with new ingredients every now and then so that I can get to try the different food out there. This time, I decided to try steel cut oatmeal after my house ran out of the rolled oats.
In case if you didn’t know, steel cut oats are the raw form of oats which is unprocessed. Thus, making it a little more difficult to cook as it takes a longer time to turn soft. But once it is cooked, the oatmeal porridge has this super creamy consistency which you don’t get when you are cooking instant or rolled oats.

I went with the more popular brands of steel cut oats on iHerb and I must say that it is worth the buy. The quality of steel cut oats of this Irish brand of oatmeal is superb.
The other new ingredient I’ve wanted to try is white chia seeds. Both black and white chia seeds are pretty much the same in terms of nutritional value. But I just thought that it might look better when making chia seed pudding.
It’s funny how these seeds become such a trend only right now here in Singapore. We are picking up quite slowly but with the demand now going up, the price of chia seeds is now more affordable.
Now Foods, Real Food, White Chia Seed, 1 lb (454 g)
I use to add grated coconut over my smoothie bowls but this time, I decided to try these coconut flakes which looked like coconut chips, thinking that it would taste crunchy, just like chips. But it’s not that crunchy unless you toast it. It also looked somewhat nicer in my breakfast bowl and it is more obvious that these are coconut strips.
Edward & Sons, Organic Coconut Flakes, Unsweetened, 7 oz (200 g)
The next item is acai berry from Sambazon which I’ve bought a couple of times before. This time, I bought it to make acai bowls which are a mixed of frozen fruits blended with acai berry. It’s almost like a creamy sorbet type of ice cream and it’s pretty yummy. However, this stuff is always pricey.
Sambazon, Acai, Organic Freeze-Dried Acai Powder, 90 g
It always seems that I would never fail to include a packet of tea into my iHerb stash. I’ve tried Pukka tea, an organic tea brand, before but this time I wanted to go for floral teas with a pleasant fragrance. I decided to go with their ‘Love’ herbal tea which has rose, chamomile, and lavender in it. The flower scents are not too overpowering but rather mild.
Pukka Herbs, Love, Organic Rose, Chamomile & Lavender Tea, Caffeine Free, 20 Tea Sachets, 0.8 oz (24 g)
I know that this Happy Baby superfood puff is out of place as I don’t have a baby living right in my house but I just decided to buy this and try it for myself seeing that it’s a super popular product among babies. It’s not very tasty but very lightly flavoured with strawberry. It’s almost like flavoured cereal but of course, here, they are using organic food to make it. It’s about $5 plus per bottle and a reader of mine once told me that it is so much more affordable on iHerb than in local supermarkets here in Singapore.
My question is, do children really like this stuff?
