Dr.Bronner’s Story

We are told that the role of a blogger is no different from the role of a storyteller. We share stories that would inspire and educate others.

In every product, there’s a story behind. This is the story of Dr. Bronner.

There is probably no other organic soap-making companies that are as old as Dr.Bronner’s which was founded 1948. But way before Emmanuel Bronner was born, his family was already in this soap making business since 1858. All of Dr. Bronner’s products, you see today in the market, are part of the legacy left and brought forward by Emmanuel Bronner himself. Their family is Jewish and its roots trace all the way back to Germany. No wonder there’s a mention of the All-mighty and His wonderful teachings on Dr. Bronner’s packaging.

I believe that there are more than just a certified organic soap making company but a social and eco-conscious company that only buys the purest and fair-trade ingredients, ensuring our environment is protected and be fair to their suppliers and employees. For a company that pioneers 100% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic bottles for its liquid soaps, it shows its commitment towards achieving sustainability.

How I wish I could delve in deeper and find out more about their family traditions but the closest I can get is by using their products. Thanks to Nature’s Glory, I had the opportunity to review some of Dr. Bronner’s new range of products. And if you are wondering where to get Dr. Bronner’s from, you can always purchase online at Nature’s Glory or shop at their physical store.

1. Dr. Bronner’s Cinnamon ALL-ONE Toothpaste

Like all Dr. Bronner’s products, most of it are highly versatile which are multi-purpose. This toothpaste helps reduce plaque and whitens teeth. It may not produce that tingly sensation like most peppermint toothpaste would but it does an effective job of eradicating bad breaths.

I’ve seen cinnamon toothpaste at iHerb before and I think it is such a great idea to add them to toothpaste because cinnamon is well-known for its anti-inflammatory properties. It could also help fight against bacterial and fungal infections.

Overall, I like this toothpaste a lot as I find it helps to remove plaques effectively. It is also very gentle on the gums so I highly recommend this to those with highly sensitive gums.

Ingredients:

Organic Glycerin, Organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Hydrated Silica, Calcium Carbonate, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda), Potassium Cocoate (made with Organic Coconut Oil*), Organic Cinnamomum Cassia (Cinnamon) Oil, Organic Mentha Arvensis (Menthol) Crystals, Organic Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Flour*, Organic Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil*, Tocopherol, Citric Acid, Organic Stevia Rebaudiana Leaf / Stem Extract

2.  Dr. Bronner’s Lavender Organic Hand Sanitizer

This is a life-saver for me and I can’t make do with it now after I’ve started using this. Previously, I would rely on wet tissues to clean my hands if there is no wash basin in the proximity. I’ve tried using regular hand sanitizers before but it is often very drying on my skin due to the presence of alcohol. But for Dr. Bronner’s Lavender Organic Hand Sanitizer, it isn’t too drying on my skin and it leaves a refreshing lavender scent on my palms.

If I need to sanitize anything, I just spray it on some tissue and wipe on areas like my feet or any other areas. It could also be used as a room freshener. If the air around you is stale, you can spray some of the hand sanitizers too. I would definitely stock up on this again!

3. Dr. Bronner’s 4-in-1 Sugar Lemongrass Lime Organic Pump Soap

In my opinion, the cleanest and purest liquid body soap you can get is probably the organic pump soaps by Dr. Bronner’s. The only ingredient in the list which stands out the most is Tocopherol. But it is essentially Vitamin E. And Potassium hydroxide is also used during saponification and it is not present after the soap making process. Even though it is not present in their after-product, Dr. Bronner’s still make it a point to mention include it in their ingredient list. It really shows that the company values transparency and honesty.

The product has a yellow and clear gel-like formula. The product itself soaps very well with water and it smells very much like honey mixed with lime juice. The lemongrass scent didn’t stand out as much and it doesn’t linger on the skin for long. The scent probably just last through your shower time. But more importantly, your skin needs to feel clean and at the same time hydrated.

Likewise, as with all Dr. Bronner’s soaps, you can use it to wash your hands, face, body and hair too. You really need just one bottle to keep your skin and hair healthy and clean.

Ingredients:
Organic Sucrose*, Organic White Grape Juice, Organic Coconut Oil*, Organic Palm Kernel Oil*, Potassium Hydroxide**, Organic Olive Oil*, Organic Shikakai Powder, Organic Hemp Oil, Organic Jojoba Oil, Organic Lemongrass Oil, Organic Lemon Oil, Organic Lime Oil, Citric Acid, Tocopherol

**None remains after saponifying oils into soap & glycerin.

4. Dr. Bronner’s Patchouli Lime Organic Hand and Body Lotion

I like to pair my body wash of a similar scent with the body lotion so that the scent can linger longer on my skin. So if you are using the 4-in-1 Lemongrass lime organic pump soap, I recommend using Patchouli lime as an after-shower body lotion.

The product is highly emollient so you don’t require too much of the product and it can be used on your face, hands, and body. For those with super dry or cracked skin, I recommend Dr. Bronners’
Arnica-Menthol Organic Magic Balm which provides a more intense hydration for your skin.
Ingredients:

Aqua, Organic Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil*, Organic Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Organic Ethyl Alcohol*, Organic Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil*, Organic Cannabis Sativa (Hemp) Seed Oil, Organic Quillaja Saponaria Extract, Organic Pogostemon Cablin (Patchouli) Oil, Organic Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Oil, Organic Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Xanthan Gum, Tocopherol
