iHerb: African Black Soap + Sambucol + Elderberry Lozenges

I’ve made multi-purchases at iHerb and I always find myself discovering new products at iHerb. Other than purchasing some of the old favorites like the African Black Soap, I also tried other newer products and recommended products by my friends.

1. Nubian Heritage, African Black Soap, Body Wash, 13 fl oz (384 ml)

My bottle, which was sent to me, came with the new packaging. It was meant for my boyfriend who finds this product useful in controlling his back acne. I guess the product helps with controlling skin conditions because it contains Mineral-rich Dead Sea Salt and Jojoba Beads which helps to slough off dead skin while Oats and Aloe Extracts soothe skin.

2. Nubian Heritage, African Black Soap Bar, 5 oz (141 g)

If you prefer using a soap bar as you would like to cut down wastage, you can get their soap bar version which I felt that it is very affordable as compared to other black soap bars which are sold elsewhere. Like its body wash, this soap helps to treat eczema, blemishes, oily skin, psoriasis, and other skin ailments.

3. Gaea, Greek, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, 17 fl oz (500 ml)

There are many different grades of olive oil. If you are using olive oil for cooking, I prefer to use the common olive oil but if I am using as a dipping for bread or salads, I prefer to use good quality extra virgin olive oil which is usually sold more expensive. The flavor of the better quality olive oil is usually more intense and its color is usually much darker in nature. I’ve yet to try out this cold-pressed olive oil by Gaea but I will be back to update this post once I’ve tried it.

4. Nature’s Way, Sambucus Organic Zinc Lozenges, Berry Flavor, 24 Lozenges

There are 2 popular brands of Elderberry lozenges and since I can’t decide which to buy, I decided to buy both. Tastewise, I actually prefer this brand of Elderberry zinc lozenges which also has Vitamin C in it. That is simply because I felt that the berry flavor in it is more intense than the lozenges by Zand.

Each lozenge has 12.5 mg of black elderberry extract, 5 mg of zinc and 60 mg of Vitamin C. Other ingredients includes organic tapioca syrup, organic dried cane syrup, organic raspberry flavor with other natural flavors and natural raspberry flavor. It uses organic ingredients and some other natural flavors so it may not be fully organic.

Now that I am having a sore throat, I was glad that I actually bought this lozenges which are both soothing to the throat and also a great supplement to boost my immunity system.

It contains 24 lozenges in a pack.

5. Zand, Elderberry Zinc, Herbalozenge, Sweet Elderberry, 15 Lozenges

For these Herbalozenges, it contains more than just elderberry and sweetener. The ingredients are Brown rice syrup, black elderberry extract, natural raspberry flavor and citric acid in an herbal base of hibiscus flower, orange peel, lemon peel, rose hips, lemon grass herb, perilla leaf and schizonepeta herb. Thus, it actually contains more herbs than the previous lozenges. That explains why the taste of the lozenge is a little more bland due to the mix of these herbs. Unlike Nature’s way, Zand did not state how much black elderberry extract is found in each lozenge.

As for which lozenges is more effective, I can’t really tell but as for which is more value for money, I have to say it’s Zand.

6. Sambucol, Black Elderberry, Effervescent Tablets, 15 Effervescent Tablets

This is no different from the other effervescent tablets you see in the market except that it uses original Black Elderberry extract as a natural source of Vitamin C.

It contains black elderberry, citric acid, sodium bicarbonate (acidity regulator), maltodextrin, beet root powder (natural color), natural strawberry and raspberry flavors, sucralose, sorbitol. When mixed with water, the tablet frizzes and lightly colors the water pink. It tasted just like raspberry flavoured water. Tastewise, it has a natural fruity taste.
Sambucol also produces cough syrups which I would love to try if I really need to rely on medicine.

7. Now Foods, Real Food, Certified Organic Popcorn, 24 oz (680 g)

I can’t wait to pop some corn in my pan! I am going to make some really unique popcorn with this organic popcorn so stay tune on my Instagram and blog.

8. Aura Cacia, Organic, Lemongrass, 0.25 fl oz (7.4 ml)

Aura Cacia was introduced to me by this media friend who said that this is one of the best brands of essential available at iHerb. I took a whiff of it and it smells really good to me. I’m also thinking of using these essential oils to make DIY beauty products using natural ingredients so do stay tuned for that as well!

9. Aura Cacia, 100% Pure Essential Oil, Tea Tree, .5 fl oz (15 ml)

With my recent acne breakouts, I decided to perhaps make a toner infused with some Tea Tree essential oil which has anti-bacterial properties. And hopefully, this would help to soothe the redness and reduce the occurrence of acne.

I should be updated this post soon!
