This year’s Christmas is somewhat special. Both Sam and I decided to volunteer to be part of a short skit for Christmas at St.Andrew Cathedral. Both of us are supposed to be part of this short skit called ‘The Interview’ which is directed by Red Productions.
My role was to play as Mary who gave birth to baby Jesus while Sam was to play as Joseph as Mary’s companion. Both of us were interviewed by a host of a Talk show who wanted to find out more about the birth of Jesus Christ. Thankfully, it was a small scene where I had about 8 to 10 lines to memorize and internalize it. It was my first time acting on stage and I didn’t know what to expect. I guess the toughest part was having to head down to their office for weekly rehearsals. That’s what I’ve been busy with during this holiday season!
We were down for 3 consecutive nights at St. Andrew Cathedral cafe and though it was just about 10 minutes on stage, we were both feeling quite tired after the performance. We had to spend time removing our makeup and Sam had to remove this bushy beard and wig.
Here’s our makeup look! It is seriously very legit!
and our baby Jesus…
We even took a photo at the Nativity photo booth just right outside the cafe.
Overall, it was a great experience especially now that I’ve learned a thing or two about acting. I also didn’t travel this holiday as I wanted some time for myself to rest and focus on this acting gig.
My lines were based on these verses from Luke 1: 46 – 48
I hope the meaning and message behind this skit conveyed the truth about our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!
Have a blessed Christmas, everyone!
