Cafés Richard: Take Me to Paris!

Visiting Cafés Richard at Resorts World Genting is like taking a trip down memory lane of my trip to Paris. The top coffee roaster in France, Cafés Richard, has opened its world’s first cafe at SkyAvenue in Genting. From chic Parisien bistros and restaurants from Saint-Germain-des-Prés to Montmartre, this traditional French-style coffee roaster has now come to Malaysia. This isn’t your regular cafe that tries to mimic the Parisien-style of living or coffee-drinking. Over here, they do serve high-quality speciality coffees and teas which are all handcrafted by their skilful baristas. You could enjoy some small French bites with your coffee mocktails or cocktails as well.

Cafés Richard sourced their coffee beans from various parts of the world in order to bring a wider variety of coffees to suit the various palates. Their beverage menu is extensive! They serve coffee cocktails, coffee mocktails, slow coffee, chocolate drinks and a variety of teas (includes white, black, green, rooibos and organic herbal teas.

One of their signature coffee is Perle Noir, an exclusive Cafés Richard 100% Arabica brewed coffee. If you’re an eco-conscious individual (like myself), you might want to go for their organic coffee, Massaya, which hails from Mexico where the coffee beans are organically cultivated. You could also try their ‘Orang Utan’ coffee from Sumatra where part of the proceeds will go towards helping endangered orangutans in Indonesia. That’s drinking coffee for a good cause!

You could even determine how you want your coffee to be brewed. Prefer slow coffee methods? Choose either from their various slow coffee brew methods like the French press, Chemex, Syphon or Cold drip. Each slow coffee brew methods produces coffee that differs slightly in terms of taste, texture and acidity.

Choose your favourite spot in the cafe, sip some coffee and just enjoy the Parisian vibe here. You can choose to sit either indoors where there’s cushioned seats or outdoors at the alfresco area or flower-shaped centre court where you can watch the world go by as you enjoy some coffee.

Ethiopian Moka Yirgacheffe

The coffee beans are cultivated in the birthplace of coffee, Ethiopia. Ours is brewed using the Chemex method. The coffee tasted very rich and the sweet floral notes are more apparent as this method requires the use of unbleached chemically-bonded paper that soaks up the astringent coffee oil. It’s a delicate and smooth coffee with a floral note to it. It’s like drinking a really good brewed coffee served in a wine glass.

Pink Lady Coffee Mocktail

I wanted to try their Flower Coffee Soda but they say that it is going to take hours to prepare it. So I ordered this Pink Lady Coffee Mocktail which is a concoction of coffee and lemonade. It tasted a little strange at first but you will gradually grow to like it as it tasted very refreshing. It’s like drinking cold-brewed coffee mixed with lemon juice and honey.

We also ordered the Parisian high tea set where the delicate bite-sized sweet and savoury treats are presented in a small white cabinet. Fancy some french delicacies like Escargot or Crème brûlée?

This Parisian cafe at SkyAvenue is definitely worth checking out.

You can head up to SkyAvenue via Awana Skyway, Resorts World Genting’s new state-of-the-art cable car system from Awana Station to SkyAvenue Station. 10 of the gondolas are fitted with glass-floorings where you would be able to enjoy an unobstructed and spectacular bird’s eye view of the 130-million-year-old rainforest!
