What’s New at Resorts World Genting in 2017: Getting Bigger and Better

We spent our weekend at 6,000 feet above sea level where the air was cool and crisp. Although it’s a really short getaway, we made the most out of this trip to Resorts World Genting as we dine at some of the best restaurants at the new swanking mall – SkyAvenue which features top retail and restaurants brands from around the world with 5 levels of shopping, dining, entertainment and nightlife experiences.

But the most exciting news would be the opening of the world’s first Twentieth Century Fox World Theme Park! It’s really time for Genting to undergo a major facelift after so many years since they last did a refurbishment. There were also announcements on the opening of new hotels, Genting Highlands Premium Outlets and much more!

“Exciting Things Are Happening”

What are some of the highly anticipated new attractions?

1) SkyAvenue

There would be over 70 food and beverage outlets opening across five floors and many are exclusives to Resort World Genting. You have London’s popular Burger & Lobster, which is the first outlet to be open in Southeast Asia. Cafés Richard from Paris also makes its debut at Genting, being the world’s first Cafés Richard outlet to be opened. Malaysia’s first Motorino, the best authentic Neopolitan Italian pizza restaurant in New York, has also opened an outlet in Genting. The food at Burger & Lobster were LOBSTERLY-SPLENDID! Besides restaurants and cafes, there are eateries that offer delicious sweet and savoury bites. There’s also my favourite froyo store – Llaollao and bubble tea stall, Gong Cha, at skyAvenue!

Awana Skyway

The Awana Transport Hub houses the Awana Bus Terminal, Awana Skyway, helipad and 4,500 public parking spaces at the Genting Highlands Premium outlets. The Awana Bus Terminal is connected to the Awana Skyway and this is a new gateway to Resorts World Genting. The cable car ride to Resorts World Genting is unlike any other cable car rides which I’ve been to! The diamond-shaped gondolas move at a top speed of 6 metres per second and it’s like going on a slow version of a roller coaster ride. 10 of the gondolas are fitted with glass-floorings which enable you to look beneath your feet!

Awana SkyWay operates 7 days per week, from 7.00 am until midnight. Tickets for the standard gondola are priced at RM 8 for individuals while Genting Rewards Card members can pay through point deduction system of 5 GP per trip. For the glass-floor gondola, tickets are priced at RM 50 for an individual and 40 GP for Genting Rewards Card Members.

3) Luxurious Accommodation

Resorts World Genting has 6 hotels which to cater to accommodations needs of every visitor. Whether you’re travelling with your family, young children or your partners, there will be a hotel that would suit your needs and budget. Genting Grand and Maxims offers the most luxurious and exquisite rooms. We never had an opportunity to stay there but maybe some day, we would!

First World Hotel, Tower Three

We stayed at First world Hotel which is the World’s largest hotel conferred by Guinness Book of Records. It has a whopping number of 7351 rooms! We stayed at the newer rooms in Tower Three which has separate glass toilets and shower plus USB with international electric socket facilities near the bed. It’s a no-frills hotel with self-check-in and Express Check-out kiosk where you can check-in and out of the hotel quickly and smoothly without having to wait or queue.

4) Twentieth Fox Century Theme Park

The most exciting part of Genting Integrated Tourism Plan to reinvigorate and transform the whole resort is the development of the world’s first 20th Century Fox World Theme Park! It is projected to be ready by the end of 2017. This theme park will feature more than 25 rides based on the studio’s franchises, including “Planet of the Apes” and “Night at the Museum,” along with themed restaurant and merchandise outlets. It’s certainly more exciting than Universal Studio as this theme park would help bring movies come to life.

I can’t contain my excitement as I am sharing this news with you guys. A trip to Resorts World Genting should be part of your travel plans this 2017.
