ibis Styles Bali Petitenget : Your Modern-day Hotel in Bali

DSCF3349

Bali has been kind to us. It’s my fifth time here in Bali, and I still enjoy every single moment of my time spent here. This trip is somewhat unique and meaningful as we get to visit one of AccorHotel’s education centre in Bedugul. I will save all the juicy stories for my next blog post. As of now, let me take you on tour around one of the swankiest hotels in Kuta – Ibis Styles Bali Petitenget. It launched in February 2016.

It might not be your dream Balinese-style resort or villa, but this hotel still encapsulates the essence of Balinese hospitality and service. The rooms are stylish and truly swanky. Their outdoor pool is small but clean, and there’s even a gym right beside the pool area. We would highly recommend Ibis Styles Petitenget for its good competitive price point and well-furnished rooms. There’s also a business centre ideal for meetings and discussions. Though it is rated as a three-star hotel, I felt it deserves a four-star as they have most of the hotel amenities like meeting rooms, pool, gym, spa and even a kid’s corner. The staff there were cheerful, courteous, friendly and approachable – just like most Balinese people.

Hotel Lobby

Let’s start with the hotel lobby where there is ample space for guests to chill out on those comfortable couches to catch up with some reading or use the Mac computers at the computer stations.

The indoor plants add a calming vibe to the whole atmosphere and vibrant space.

Free Shuttle

The hotel also provides free shuttle to various popular spots in Seminyak. These spots include Petitenget Beach, Seminyak Beach and Seminyak Village. This complimentary shuttle provides so much convenience for hotel guests to get around. Otherwise, you could also call for a taxi or rent a motorbike to travel around.

Corporate Social Responsibility

‘A Tree For a Child’ is one of AccorHotel’s innovative campaigns to raise awareness of environmental and poverty issues. This programme aims to help underprivileged children lead healthier and happier lives in a safe and green environment. The funds raised through this project would be used to fund the children’s education and sustainable green projects to provide a clean and healthy environment for the children to live. It’s all part of AccorHotel’s mission to promote positive hospitality too. How much more do we as guests mean to AccorHotels when they even show goodwill in caring for the society and protecting the environment?

This Christmas, AccorHotels has come up with another initiative to make this season of gifting a meaningful one. You could now buy, for yourself or for a loved one, a tree from €3 to be planted according to your choice in 5 regions around the world – France, Romania, Senegal, Indonesia and Peru. For every purchase, you will receive a named planting certificate detailing the species of tree, its location, as well as the name of the farmer on whose land the tree or trees will be planted. For information, you can visit this website accorhotels.purprojet.shop.

Hotel Rooms

The hotel has 134 rooms in total. There are three types of room – Superior room, Superior room with balcony and Family Room. We were given the opportunity to enjoy a 2-night stay in the Family Room which to us, it was no different from a suite because it was rather spacious. The 463 sq.ft. (43 m²) Family Room can hold up to a maximum of 3 pax, and this is great for those families with children. It features a double bed with their new soft bedding, sofa bed, bathtub, shower, mini refrigerator, telephone, 32-inches LED TV, safe deposit box, hairdryer, WIFI and coffee/tea making facilities.

There’s also room to include an extra bed which will be placed next to the queen-size bed. I have to say that it is a lovely and well-furnished room with several wooden pieces of furniture that gives a homely feel.

Upon entering the room, you will see this coffee/tea making facilities on your right. It has space for placing your food items like baby food. This room shows no signs of space constraints here for sure. The bathroom has a bathtub (with bath salts provided) and there are two common sinks. It makes a great couple room as well. Like most hotels these days, the showering cubicle has got a rainshower head. Everything looks new and clean. Take a look at the pictures below!

I love it when the hotel went the extra mile to write a welcome note for the guests and prepared some snacks for the hungry and tired traveller who might just come from the airport after a long flight. They even gave us two batik purses as a little souvenir for us! How sweet!

We also have the opportunity to check out the other superior rooms on level 5. The typical Superior room size is about 237 sq.ft. (22 m²) which is almost half the size of the Family room. But the rooms looked very fresh, vibrant, modern as everything was clean and well-maintained. It is great for couples or solo travellers who prefer the modern chic outlook of the rooms. The rooms here are more affordable than the rooms offered in resorts.

Spa

We also head over to the spa to take a look. It was a small room where the therapists would do almost all sorts of beauty treatments from head-to-toe. We did not get to see the treatment room as it was occupied but I believe that the layout should be pretty basic and simple.

Kid’s Corner

Have I mentioned that this is a child-friendly hotel? There’s even a game console as well as board games and toys to keep the little ones engaged and entertained during your stay. Toys and games must be a life-saver for parents. The play area looks attractive for kids to spend a couple of hours there while the adults could take a dip in the pool and enjoy a cocktail served at the restaurant.

STREATS Restaurant

DSCF3351

This restaurant is right beside the pool so you can order drinks and enjoy them by the pool. Their menu has a good selection of both Western and Asian dishes as well as beverages like cocktails. The prices here are pretty affordable, and they are comparable to most of the cafes and restaurants in Bali.

DSCF3355

When in Bali, you just got to try their local delights like Nasi Campur, Ayam Penyet or Mee Goreng. They are very similar dishes to the one served in our own local Muslim food stalls back in Singapore. But of course, the spices they used here are different. Thus, there’s more flavour to the Indonesian dishes here.

Ayam Bakar Bumbu Kecap

This rice-based dish comes with marinated spring chicken, tempeh (bean cake), spinach, fried beancurd, emping crackers, sambal and steamed rice.

Nasi Goreng Istimewa

This Balinese dish comes with seafood fried rice, sate lilit, fried eggs, chicken wings and emping crackers. The food there is quite good, and our order came in within 10 minutes – which was rather quick.

DSCF3374

Don’t forget to order their fruit smoothies because the fruits in Bali is fresh and sweet to taste. We also ordered Soto Ayam, a chicken soup broth. Little did we know that this soup dish is a main course as it has vermicelli in it! So I guess we have over-ordered as the portion is quite big.

Swimming Pool

DSCF3361

During our stay, we swam once in the pool, and we had fun swimming in the 1.3M pool even though it was small. They have this colourful floats in the pool where you climb over and float on it as you allow the sun to kiss your skin.

DSCF3363

Gym

Beside the pool is their gymnasium which is quite modest but has all the basic gym equipment like weights, treadmill and bikes.

Business Centre

They have got a couple of meeting rooms which works great for business meetings as it looks very cosy.

Buffet Breakfast

DSCF3406

I always look forward to hotel buffet breakfast because I love the feeling of waking up to some warm toasts, pancakes and fruits. Who doesn’t? Unfortunately, the breakfast variety here is quite limited, and the dishes served were of average standard. But I have to applaud the effort they put in to set up a healthy breakfast corner where they served muesli, yoghurt with fruits and herbal tea. Kid-friendly utensils are available too.

DSCF3409

Overall, it was an enjoyable stay at ibis Styles Petitenget as the property itself is beautiful and the service there is top-notch. I highly recommend this hotel for families with children as it proves to be a rather kid-friendly hotel. There is also a convenience store right opposite the hotel and several other restaurants within proximity. Location-wise, it is perfect as it is away from the bustling Kuta area, so you get to enjoy some peace here.
