Detoxifying Your Body Naturally

Now that the festive period is over, are you looking for a way to detoxify your body naturally? There are several ways of doing so. You could either go on a water fast, and juice cleanses to reset your body.  I’ve even tried going raw vegan for a couple of days to cleanse my body systems, and it does produce the same detoxification effects. But is there a way of detoxifying your body naturally without having to make significant changes to your diet and lifestyle? Perhaps you are leading a busy lifestyle, or you are just starting to take your health seriously but have not gone for a body detox before. You might want to start out by drinking Aloe Vera Juice. It works wonders.

Aloe Vera: A Gentle Colon Cleanser

Besides the healing properties of the Aloe Vera, it is also known for being one of the best body cleansers. I came to know that renowned raw vegan advocate, Annette Larkins, also swears by Aloe Vera juice and how it helps her to maintain regular bowel movements. Before this, I had no idea that Aloe Vera could also help the digestive system. Apparently, it contains a soluble fibre which promotes healthy bacteria (probiotics) in your gut that further aids in the detoxification process. The soluble fibre acts like a scouring pad that gently cleanses the gut lining. It also helps to reduce inflammation and soften hardened stools. So if probiotics do not work for you anymore, you could try drinking this gentle gut cleaner to increase your bowel movements.

Nature’s Glory Premium Aloe Vera Juice Concentrate

You could get Aloe Vera juice at various health food stores in Singapore, but I believe that it is not widely available yet. One reliable and trustable health food store you could get Aloe Vera Juice from is Nature’s Glory. They are one of the pioneers in the organic food industry in Singapore, and their organic products have gone through stringent checks and test before it is sold online or at their retail showroom in Outram. I got to try out their Premium Whole Leaf Aloe Vera Juice concentrate which is made from organically-grown Aloe Barbadensis Miller plants. The juice extracted from the whole aloe leaf has two to three times greater nutrients than the gel obtained from the inner leaf.

How to detox with Aloe Vera

It is recommended that you take 1 to 3 tablespoons of Nature’s Glory Premium Whole Leaf Aloe Vera Concentrate mix with water, two to three times daily. But for me, I find it simpler if I just drink the pure Aloe Vera juice undiluted and then drink a cup of water to wash it down. I would take two tablespoons in the morning, and by evening (or sometimes, the next morning), I would have the urge to visit the toilet to expel whatever was stored in my guts.

My Thoughts

The concentrate is watery and has a slight yellow tint to it. Surprisingly, it tasted way different from the fresh plain-tasting aloe vera gel. In fact, it tasted very sour.

You can tone down the sourish taste with some honey or coconut sugar. I wouldn’t recommend adding it to smoothies or any beverage because the strong acidic taste of the Aloe Vera concentrate would alter the taste of the smoothie. I prefer to drink it on its own or mixed with plain water.

You might even want to try using Aloe Vera juice to make a DIY face mask too! Just soak up some cotton pads with Aloe Vera juice and leave it on your skin for about five to ten minutes.
