Jones The Grocer
One of the best cafes to have a hearty brunch is none other than Jones The Grocer. It is more than just a cafe as also offers a curated selection of hand-selected speciality products and other epicurean delights. Their flagship outlet at Dempsey Hill features a signature walk-in cheese room, charcuterie and deli. Recently, this award-winning Australian gourmet food emporium has recently launched their new gourmet burger menu, and I was there to find out how great a burger could taste. Burgers are often the staple food found in a brunch or lunch menu, and if they could whip out a decent burger, I am pretty sure there might be some other stellar dishes featured on their menu.

I was at their Great World City outlet the other day to try out four of their burgers from the new menu. Each burger comes with coleslaw and fries as sides.
Jones Wagyu Burger
Let’s start with their signature burger – Jones Wagyu Burger. This burger comprises of bacon, cheddar, truffle mayo, Bois bourdon sauce, pickles, yellow mustard, caramelised onions, mesclun, all tucked between a brioche bun. Boy, the taste and texture of the burger were pretty amazing. If you’re a meat lover, you would be over the moon to find fresh slices of bacon layered on top of all the fresh ingredients. The meat is tender, and Bois bourdon sauce helps to tie all the ingredients together. You’ll never go wrong with their Wagyu Burger.
Buttermilk Chicken Burger
We also tried their new Buttermilk chicken burger which consists of crispy chicken breast, Sriracha mayo and carrot mango. In addition, they are very generous with their ingredients. See how fat and thick the chicken slices are? However, we find that the chicken is a little too salty. It would have been another hit with us if not for the overpowering savoury taste it gave.
Lamb Burger
There are not many cafes in Singapore that serve lamb burger. It is a rare find. Their Lamb burger is spiced lamb patty, feta, tzatziki, red onion, red pepper sauce, tomato and green coral lettuce and a brioche bun. Taste-wise, it is pretty decent. If you love eating lamb meat, you might dig into this.
Veggie Burger
To my dear vegetarian and health-conscious friends, you are certainly not left out! Here’s a vegetarian option that tasted as good as the rest of their burgers. Their Mediterranean Falafel burger has feta, jalapeno, tzatziki, red onion, red pepper sauce, tomato and green coral lettuce on a brioche bun. I love that their greens are very fresh and everything is served warm.
My Verdict
I would recommend their wagyu burger because it is one of the best gourmet burgers I’ve tried thus far. The other burgers were more average tasting and are not as outstanding as the wagyu burger. But the ingredients they used are fresh, and the serving is quite big. Their potato cut-fries can be quite addictive too.
