Love eating donuts and fancy sitting on one gigantic ?
You might have seen these doughnut-shaped boats around at Marina Bay waters and wondered, ‘how do I get into one of these?’ or ‘how much does it cost?’ You’re about to find out in this post.
The Floating Donuts
Last weekend, I was at Clifford Pier to go onboard on one of these floating donuts which are made in Germany. They are owned by The Floating Donut company, Flodoco which offers private boat cruises experiences in both Singapore and Phuket. There are currently three of such eco-friendly floating in Marina Bay waters.
Getting There
The boarding site is along the waterfront at WaterB kiosk at Clifford Pier (Collier Quay), located between Monti restaurant and Fullerton Bay hotel. We were advised to reach 10 minutes before boarding time.
Currently, the duration of the cruises varies from 30 minutes to 120 minutes. We went for the 30-minute cruise for 4 pax. The prices for the cruise starts from SGD130++ onwards for a 30-minute 4 pax-Marina cruise. This package includes a soft drink for each passenger.
What can you do onboard the floating donut?
The floating donut is safe for both children and elderly. There are life jackets onboard too. It is also easy to go onboard the floating via the steps.
From afar, it looks no different from those round dining tables you see in Chinese restaurants. It literally just looks like a round dining table floating along Singapore’s waterfront.
You can enjoy a meal onboard!
If you can afford to splurge, I highly recommend that you go for the dining or cocktail packages. It is a rather unique experience to dine on a floating with of Singapore’s city skyline as you indulge in some cheese, seafood and wine.
This is great for any special occasions or events like Valentine’s Day. If you are planning to surprise your other half, having a meal onboard the cruise might be a great option. The meals are prepared by an Italian restaurant, Monti Restaurant (which offers one of the best weekend brunches in town).
The Bespoke Experience
Make this floating cruise more memorable by playing your favourite tracks from their portable speaker.
Snap and Print!
Flodoco is currently in collaboration with Canon to introduce their new Canon Mini Photo Printer. This is one of the best photo printing devices ever and I enjoyed using it too! Once you get on the floating , you can try out the gadgets and have your photos printed using the phone provided onboard. However, this campaign is on for a limited period of time only.
You can also use your phone to print photos as long as you have downloaded the Canon Mini Print app stored in your phone.
The first photo print is complimentary. The subsequent photo prints are chargeable.
Our ‘Doughnut’ Experience
It was pretty fun cruising on the along Singapore’s waterfront where you can have an view of Marina Bay Shoppes and the CBD area. But currently, the floating can also cruise along some parts of the waterfront. I guess the experience would have been more complete if we are able to navigate the floating by ourselves. By due to some rules and regulations, passengers are unable to man the floating by themselves. There’s always a captain onboard to steer the floating . It might be a little awkward to have a stranger onboard but at least there’s someone there to assist you if you needed help with photos.
This is definitely worth a try and I hope to dine on one of these floating donuts in future!
