Cafe Asia 2019 is one of the largest food and beverage annual convention shows held in Singapore. This year, Cafe Asia 2019 is held concurrently with three other shows – the 7th International Coffee & Tea (ICT) Industry Expo, the 6th Sweets & Bakes Asia as well as the inaugural Restaurant Asia 2019. These four shows are hosted by Singapore Coffee Association at Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre Halls B and C from 21 to 23 March 2019.

Main Event Highlights (21 – 23 March 2019)
Every year, I will try to make it a point to visit these exhibitions to find out what are the latest food and beverage innovations, products and trends. It also serves as a great platform to network with business leaders and key players from the coffee, tea and bakery industries.
Here are the main event highlights:
- ASEAN Coffee Federation Specialty Coffee Auction
- Three National Coffee Championships (Singapore Latte Art Championship, Singapore Cup Tasters Championship, Singapore Coffee in Good Spirits Championship)
- Hands-on Baking Workshops and demonstrations by ABC Cooking Studio
- Coffee cocktail demonstrations

This year, there is a total of over 250 exhibitors from 28 countries who are here in Singapore to present the latest food and beverage trends and developments to trade professionals as well as the members of the public. This exhibit is open to trade professionals on 21-22 March and to the public on 23 March (Saturday). Admission is free!

The ‘Say-No-To-Plastic-Straws’ movement is going strong. Many of the main food and beverage players in Singapore has decided not to provide plastic straws. What I like about these rice straws is the fact that they are edible. And once you immerse them in water for a long period of time, they become soft and pliable. Thus, you probably can’t reuse these straws for a second time but you can definitely turn them into compost. Each rice straw decomposes completely in just 90 days.
Gourmet German Curry Sauce by Ruhrfeuer
These all-natural German curry sauce is simply quite delicious. It tasted nothing like the Asian curries we have here in Singapore. There are three different levels of spiciness and we love that smoky and savoury taste of the curry sauce. It has that hint of BBQ flavour in it.

We have all heard about this Asia-pacific gelato champion in Singapore, haven’t we? This time, they wowed us with their display of gourmet gelatos decorated with fancy-looking ingredients. Wouldn’t you love to taste such beautiful gelatos?
Old Chef Smart Induction Noodle Cooker by Interchamp
This Smart induction cooker is rather intriguing to us as we have not seen it before. With this machine, you can cook your packet of instant noodles quickly in just 4 minutes without the use of cooking pots. You simply have to use their patented boxes to cook your packet of instant noodles on the induction cooker. Such automated noodle ramen induction cookers are popular in ramen-loving countries like Korea and Japan. Soon, it will be making their first appearances at our popular convenience stores in Singapore.
All you will need to do is to empty the instant noodle ingredients into the special box packaging and then scan the barcode printed on the box.
As soon as you scan the barcode, you will have to place the box of noodles on the cooker itself. The machine will then automatically dispense the right amount of water into your box of ramen.
After a minute, we noticed that the water started to boil. At this point, you can even throw in an egg or two. This is so much more fun than cooking your instant noodles in a microwave.
After 4 minutes, the cooker will automatically turn off and the noodles are ready to be served! The noodles are cooked evenly to perfection.
