Bird’s nest is a popular tonic in Traditional Chinese Medicine. In Asia, it is very much like a health supplement to boost immunity and overall health. And if you do not already know, the bird’s nest is largely made up of their saliva.
I would not want to have human saliva smeared onto my face or let alone eat it but when it comes to the swiftlet’s saliva, every woman, including me, would gladly stomach this goodness. It is reputed as a beauty food as it is rich in Epidermal Growth Factors (EGF) which are responsible for skin and tissue repair.
Bird’s nest is often known as the ‘Caviar of the East’ and this rare ingredient can cost up to about $10,000 per kilogram depending on its quality and type. Most of us would have tasted Bird’s nest before but have you tried Bird’s nest facial before? I was intrigued when I knew that My Cozy Room was introducing their new Royal Bird’s Nest Facial. I just had to try it!

My Cozy Room
This is my second time back here at My Cozy Room, an award-winning boutique spa. This time they have opened their second outlet which is a stone away from Somerset MRT station. Their flagship outlet is not too far away from their new outlet.
Upon arrival, I made up my way up a flight of stairs to the second floor where their salon is located at. They served me a cup of tea as I filled up the customers’ particulars form. After the consultation, I was ushered to one of their treatment rooms.
Their treatment rooms spell comfort and luxurious. Their thick blankets, plush pillows and velvety soft towels will make you feel as if you are resting on a bed of clouds. They even provide a cushion just to prop your legs up so that you can lie down more comfortably.
With that, I definitely felt more relaxed lying on bed and could not wait for my skin to absorb all the goodness from the bird’s nest.
My Cozy Room’s Royal Bird’s Nest Facial
This royal treatment is probably the most expensive facial treatment offered at My Cozy Room. It is priced at $388. It is a 2-hour anti-ageing facial which targets at dull-looking skin and pigmentation. Overall, this facial will help to brighten up the skin complexion and improves signs of ageing like fine lines and wrinkles. Like all of their facial treatments, this facial in particular also includes extraction.
Double Cleansing step
Before cleansing, my therapist Jewel gave me a relaxing shoulder massage. Then, she cleansed my face and neck thoroughly with their cleansing cream infused with Royal Jelly. I like the fact that they also focus very much on neck care because our necks need some tender loving care too. The skin around our neck aged the fastest!
The Golden Exfoliator
To remove the dead cells and impurities, they used this golden exfoliator which is gentle to the skin. The exfoliator is enriched with tangerine and papaya enzymes to help soften the skin, unclog the pores and lighten the skin tone.
My therapist took time to gently massage the exfoliator in circular motions across my skin. After some time, the dead skin cells and dirt will start to surface.
Facial Extraction
Over here at My Cozy Room, they are into manual extractions by hand. Their extraction step is very thorough here as they believe that the pores must be unclogged so that the skin can absorb all the nutrients and other good stuff from the ampoules and masks. I am not going to lie but the extraction process is quite painful. Thankfully, it didn’t take that long!
After extraction, they used a device to disinfect my red-looking skin. My sensitive skin gets red very easily after extraction. But after masking, the redness usually goes away.
Skin Oxygenation
To calm and soothe the skin, they oxygenate my skin with this oxygen spray device. The oxygen released will also help to boost blood circulation. It was just what my skin actually needed after extraction.
Feeding my skin cells with Bird’s Nest Complex
Here comes my favourite part of this facial! It is also the most relaxing and luxurious part of the facial where they massage the Bird’s Nest Complex into my skin.
To ensure optimal absorption of the bird’s nest complex into my skin, they incorporate the use of Dynamic Radio Frequency (DRF) therapy. It involves the use of a device which emits radiofrequency to help the ingredients penetrate more deeply and effectively into the skin. It also emits a 630mm red LED light that stimulates collagen production and cell metabolism.
Facial Massage
Next, they finish the step off with a relaxing facial massage using ‘mushroom-looking’ jadestone stool. They massage the whitening cream into my skin that contains ingredients that inhibit melanin production and stimulates skin renewal.
Premium White Nest Alginate Mask
This luxurious and pampering facial treatment ends off with this premium White Nest Alginate Mask. This cooling mask is formulated with Swiss Alps Spring Water, Algae Collagen Essence and concentrated Bird’s Nest extract. It also intensely hydrates and brightens the skin.
The therapist gave me a good head, neck and shoulder massage as the mask is left to sit on my skin for the next 20 minutes.
I swear that my skin was glowing like a Christmas tree lights after the treatment. My skin is already quite fair, to begin with, and I never knew that I could go a few shades fairer.
After the facial treatment…
After removing the mask, my therapist sprayed a layer of skin essence on my face to keep it further hydrated, moist and supple. From the picture above, you can see that the redness in my skin is gone for good and there’s a beautiful glow radiating from my skin within. I guess all I really need is a good facial to brighten up my day.
The pampering royal treatment continues even after the facial as you will be served a bottle of Kinohimitsu Bird’s Nest drink in Chrysanthemum flavour along with a warm cup of tea. What a way to end this Royal Bird’s Nest Facial!
My verdict
This is definitely one of the most luxurious facial treatments I’ve tried in my life. It is not just a pampering treat for your skin but it is also an effective skin treatment that helps to instantly brighten up the skin. I believe that this would make a good pre-wedding facial before your big day. Nothing beats that natural glow that shines from within!
