Tired of eating home-cooked food and needed a break? Now that the COVID-19 circuit breaker measures have extended till 1 June, looks like we have to stay home for the next 6 weeks to keep everyone safe. If you’re exhausted from cooking and preparing meals for your family, why not take a break and order a takeaway from cafes and restaurants? Millennium Hotels and Resorts (MHR) is offering an exciting takeaway and delivery options across their selected hotels in Singapore like Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel, Orchard Hotel Singapore and M Social hotel.
Turning my dining area to a ‘fine dining restaurant’
Today, I get to try a delivery takeaway from my favourite Italian restaurant, Grissini. It is a 4-course lunch for 2 people. I paired this meal with a bottle of M Wine (white wine), which is Millennium Hotels and Resorts’ house wines. I haven’t had such an exquisite meal for a long time ever since the circuit breaker started in early April. It is, therefore, a treat to be having such a fine meal for lunch on a weekday after a busy work morning!
How to fine dine like a pro?
Their delivery is prompt. They packed their food in an insulated food pack and the food is packed in disposable eco-friendly food packaging. Disposable cutlery is included too.
But I chose to enhance my fine dining experience by serving the food on proper dining plates with cutlery. I serve the dishes with a glass of wine. It’s really not difficult to enjoy an exquisite meal over a good conversation and bonding over traditional family games during this circuit breaker period.
What’s on my ‘fine dining’ table?
I really enjoyed their Caprese Di Buffala, a classic Italian dish, which is usually serve as a cold starter. Grissini’s handmade Italian pizza is another my other favourite. You just can’t go wrong with their thin-crust pizzas which is topped with the freshest ingredients. Their pretty generous with their mains as well – the baby chicken isn’t that ‘baby’ after all.
I’ve eaten at Grissini a couple of times before and the food standard is definitely not compromised at all even though it is not served fresh out from the kitchen. The food might not be kept warm but you can always heat it up slightly and serve it hot.
Starter: Caprese Di Bufala
This starter dish comprises of Buffalo mozzarella cheese D.O.P served with heirloom tomatoes, dry oregano and fresh basil leaves.
Soup: Butternut Squash and Orange Soup
This is a sweet Italian pumpkin soup served with orange skin, pancetta and cinnamon. It’s a refreshing sweet vegetable soup which will complement well with the savoury pizza and mains.
Pizza: Broccolini and Italian Pork Sausage
Layering on the crispy thin pizza crust are Italian pork sausages, broccolini, San Marzano tomato and mozzarella. The pizza crust is still crispy. If you wish to serve it warm, you can reheat it in the oven or microwave.
Main: Baby Chicken
The baby Spring chicken is lusciously coated with a layer of herb marinate or salsa verde sauce. At the side, we have shallot confit, pumpkin, corn, baby potatoes and tomatoes. The chicken is tender and the roasted vegetables are fresh, crunchy and delicious.
Main: Pan Seared Kühlbarra Barramundi
This beautiful pan-seared barramundi is served with Fennel and olive salad, tomato coulis and carrots. This goes well with M Wine’s Sauvignon Blanc (white wine).
Dessert: Tiramisu (Bonus!)
They also included some tiramisu in the takeaway order too. I can’t find it on their takeaway order form but I guess the dessert is probably a token of gesture from the restaurant. It’s a nice way to round off the meal with a cold sweet treat.
