Robertson Quay is now bustling with people once again after Circuit Breaker. Diners returned to dine alfresco by the quay. One of the renowned restaurants situated along the quay is Beast & Butterflies at M Social hotel.
A Beastly Bold Menu
The restaurant had reopened in Phase 2 and is now back with a new menu curated by Chef Bryce Li and a new cocktail menu. Their new menu features bolder dishes like 3 cup lobsters in a clay pot and Thai Milk tea pudding that come with an unexpected twist.
Drinks for tonight
Besides trying the new dishes in their menu, we also tried a couple of new cocktails and shots concocted by their in-house mixologist, Vlad.
Hiroshima shot
Vlad crafted this bizarre-looking shot which would definitely fit the upcoming Halloween celebrations in October. It’s akin to a mini volcano with ‘boiling lava’ in it. The ‘lava’ seemingly looks like it’s about to erupt anytime. Or it could be that ‘atomic bomb’ which is about to explode.
And that’s not all, he even lights up the shot with fire and asked each of us to drink the shot in one gulp with a straw.
I didn’t think that drinking a shot would be that thrilling. I took a deep breath and gulped everything up in one shot. It was not too bad. I thought my throat would burn with the intense alcoholic shot but it didn’t. The shot tasted quite pleasant actually. It’s more awakening than caffeine.
Social #7
Next, he made us one of the new M social signature cocktails called Social #7. He has injected a ‘shot of surprise’ into it as well.
This drink is truly masculine as it has this smoky charred flavour to it.
It is a mixture of Monkey Shoulder, ginger, lemon, honey and laphroaig.
Thank goodness I was still sober to enjoy the new dishes in their menu.
Torched Salmon & Avocado Tartare
For starters, we have this torched salmon with avocado tartare. It features fresh salmon with avocado chunks topped with ikura, ginger oil, sliced crispy shallots, tempura bits and garlic chips.
Quinoa Tabbouleh
This is a light hearty dish for those who are into healthy and green living. Tossed into this lovely quinoa dish are sea salt, lemon juice, olive oil, feta cheese, garlic and mint leaves.
Lobster Bisque
We have a choice of lobster bisque or fresh onion soup. The lobster bisque is thick and creamy but it has this raw crustacean taste did not quite blend in well with the soup base.
Classic French Onion Soup
The French onion soup, on the other hand, is savoury and quite palatable. It’s typically a beef consomme served with gratinated Gruyère croutons.
Parma Ham and Burrata Cheese Tartine
If you’re a sandwich-lover, you will enjoy this tartine with Parma ham and Burrata Cheese.
Char-Grilled Ribeye, Striploin & Kurobuta Pork Chop
This is a true meat-lover’s dream – to have a platter of meats served right in front of them. Instead of getting them a cake for their birthday, why not get them a meat platter with some birthday candles on it?
You can order sauces and sides to go along with the charcoal-grilled meats. We had black pepper jus, béarnaise, red wine just along with creamy spinach and ratatouille as sides.
3 Cup Lobsters in Claypot
For one of our mains, we have an Asian-inspired dish – wok-fried Maine lobster cooked with rice wine and sesame oil. It is served in a claypot and comes with a plate of steamed rice.
Social #11
After the mains, their mixologist whips up another M Social signature called Social #11. It’s a concoction of benchmark n.8, amaretto, lemon, grapefruit and egg white.
Vlad took a photo of us and have our selfie printed on the foamy layer of the drink. If you are celebrating your anniversary dinner, you can order this special drink with your face printed on it to end off the wonderful evening.
1 metre Cold Cuts & Cheese Board
For desserts, if you are not a fan of sweet stuff, you can order their cold cut and cheese board. Or if you are just looking for a place to have a glass of wine with some small bites with friends, you can order their 1/2 or 1 metre-long board with your desired selection of cold cuts and cheese.
For us, we had their 1-metre cold cut and cheese board which also comes with some nuts, dried raisins and honey. I enjoyed their selection of quality cheeses which complements the Parma ham, crackers and French baguettes.
Thai Milk Tea Pudding
For desserts, we had this fancy-looking Thai Milk tea pudding made with caramelized coconut banana and evaporated milk. The chef has certainly done a good job in using common Thai dessert ingredients to create a stunning-looking dessert. It’s light and somewhat refreshing.
Molten Cheese Cake
The taste and texture of this molten cheesecake resemble the Basque Burnt Cheesecake, which is a trending dessert on social media right now. It’s made out of cream cheese and Valdeón cheese. If you are into cheesecakes, you will love this.
Molten Chocolate Cake
This molten chocolate cake has a mini Magnum chocolate ice cream stuck into it. It’s an elevated version of molten chocolate lava cake but tasted way better. I love the combination of warm chocolate cake with the icy cold Magnum.
Beast & Butterflies
Beast & Butterflies have narrowed down their selection of dishes in their new menu but their popular and signature dishes like the Beast burger, Singapore Laksa and Orh Nee brûlée are still retained. In addition to their popular dishes, you can try out their new dishes listed above.
There’s also a special promotion going on which you should not miss!
You can also order takeaway or delivery online from Beast & Butterflies.
