I spent all of my $100 SingapoRediscovers vouchers on staycation because everything else is overpriced. A really popular staycation spot is at Hotel G, which is a lifestyle boutique hotel along Middle Road, located right at the heart of Bras Basah District. The stay was overall rather pleasant.
Checking-in
I was also warned about the long waiting time to check-in. Guests can check in from 3pm onwards but due to the strict COVID-19 measures, they had to stagger the check-in timings. Since Hotel G is a rather popular staycation hotel, the check-in queue is expected to be quite long.
To placate guests, they will offer complimentary drink vouchers so that you can sip some wine while you wait for the queue to clear. Since we did not want to idle away the hours drinking wine or waiting for the queue to clear, we decided to check out the Star Wars exhibit at ArtScience Museum. By the time we came back, it was about 6.00pm and we checked-in within 5 minutes.
The Good Room
We were given their standard rooms which is called ‘the good room’. It is a really small room (about 11 to 13 square metres), considering that it has a room size of about 13 square meters, which is comparable to the budget hotel rooms here in Singapore. However, the room decor looks chic and their bath amenities are pretty good. Enjoy a rain shower with quality toiletries by METIS, a premium Australian skin and hair brand.

Coffee & Tea Making Facilities
Hotel G champions sustainability by ditching plastic water bottles in favour of reducing plastic waste. Instead, they provide water packed in eco-friendly paper cartons.
To save space, they installed a towel rack near the door for you to hang your clothes. Since the room is really small, it is not advisable for you to bring a luggage bag.
Bath products by METIS
Their bath products are pretty awesome and they smell heavenly of lavender and bergamot.

The sink is fixated right outside the bathroom. You have to be ultra careful when washing your hands because water can get splattered out of the sink and wet the floor.
Work Desk
The work desk area is really small but you can place your 13-inch laptop and type away.
Other room amenities include Press Reader app, Television (IPTV), Hair Dryer, bedroom slippers and an in-room safe.
My Verdict
Overall, our short 1-night stay was pleasant. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. It felt like I was sleeping on a pile of feathers. As such, my partner and I had a really good night sleep. The only downside to this is probably the size of the room. Given a choice, we might have paid a little more for a bigger room.
