The Canon M200 reminds me a lot of the previous Canon M100, an old model which I used to own. The weight and size are pretty much quite similar except that the capabilities in this latest model are more powerful.
Before I delve into reasons as to why you should own this camera, let’s talk about the camera features first.

The camera itself has a Creative Assist mode which would automatically set the camera to achieve that perfect professional-looking shot you envisioned. With a few taps, you can adjust the brightness, background blur and even the colour to get that IG-worth selfie or wefie shot.
Who needs Mei Tu Xiu Xiu or the beautifying mobile app when your camera can do the same job for you? The EOS M200 has a Smooth Skin Effect function that would instantly beautify your images and smoothen out the blemishes on your skin.
With the self-timer and recording button on the 180 degrees tilt-up touch LCD, you can now record a video of yourself without needing the help of others.
2. Vertical video recording
Producing high-quality images and videos is important to most influencers. It makes a whole lot of difference you are able to shoot in 4K resolution (24p/25p) and share this high-quality video with your followers.
Another cool feature that this camera allows for is vertical video recording. This is perfect if you are creating a TikTok video or IG reel. The video can be played seamlessly in the correct orientation when exported to your mobile devices. Once transferred, you can straightway edit it on any video editor app without having to crop or rotate the video to fit the size of your mobile screen.

What are some downsides to this camera?
This camera doesn’t come without any disadvantages. While it seems compact and handbag-friendly, it is actually quite heavy. I believe most of the weight is contributed by the EF-M lens which holds some weight.
My Verdict
However, considering its price point, I find that it is quite worth the buy. The Canon EOS M200 kit is currently retailing at SGD 809 on Canon Singapore online shop. It is a good entry point camera if you are looking for an affordable camera to create content for your social media platforms. The image produced is very sharp and the video quality is pretty amazing. Also, it comes in two colours – black and white.
