You may have seen reviews of Kelly Oriental on your TikTok or Instagram feed and even considered dropping by to try out their signature treatments like herbal baths, massages, or facials. Hopefully, you will find this detailed review useful.
Location
Kelly Oriental is located at Holland Village and they have just opened another outlet which is a few units down. Their second outlet, Kelly Oriental Aesthetic, specializes in aesthetic and facial treatments while the first outlet focuses on spa and body treatments.
It was founded by Kelly Xu who started the high-end skincare brand, Sheroxi in Shanghai back in 2015. The brand focuses on natural skincare through the use of Chinese herbal medicine to bring about a healthy balance to the skin. They used to be known as ‘Sheroxi’ but I guess they have rebranded and had their brand changed to Kelly Oriental.
Treatments at Kelly Oriental Aesthetic
Their signature treatments at their new outlet include aesthetic treatments like Skin boosters, Pico Laser, Botox, Ultherapy, and micro-needling. The advanced aesthetic treatments are performed by their in-house certified aesthetic doctor.
My experience.
Today, I went over to their second outlet (which opened just a week ago) for a facial treatment. The wabi-sabi interior of their aesthetic clinic is aesthetically pleasing. There’s also this charming curved staircase that would lead you to the second floor where most of the treatment rooms are.
I was first ushered to take a seat where they served me some red date tea. Then they ask me to fill up a form with my personal details on their iPad, which is the standard procedure for most aesthetic clinics and beauty salons here in Singapore. They will usually ask for your personal details as well as skin and body concerns.
After sharing my skin concerns, I was recommended to try out their Deep Cleansing facial to clear out my clogged skin. My skin was quite heavily clogged as I hadn’t done a facial in a while so I was glad that they have recommended a suitable treatment for me.
Most aesthetic clinics or beauty salons will usually use renowned skincare brands from countries like USA or Europe. But over here at Kelly Oriental, they created their own skincare brand which includes their sheet masks.
Treatment Room
I was brought up to the second floor, to my assigned treatment room. It was reasonably sized for a facial treatment room. It is clean and tidy. They even provided a bottle of water for customers too.
There are power sockets at the vanity area of the room as well where you can charge your phones too. The treatment bed was comfy too.
The treatment starts off with a cleansing step which is followed right away by a hydrafacial treatment step which gently exfoliates the dead skin layer. This is followed by an ultrasonic pore extractor to further cleanse the pores by pushing out all the dirt and gunk in the pores.
To further unclog the pores, the therapist went on to do a manual extraction on my skin with a needle. After having done so many extractions before, I would say that her extraction skills are not too bad. She was quite gentle with the extractions as I told her that my pain tolerance level was rather low.
After the cleansing action, she went on to shape my eyebrows with an eyebrow razor and proceeded to do a facial massage. The facial massage was good and I could tell that they do have their own signature facial massage steps and sequence which focuses a lot on the acupoints along the meridian system in the face.
After the massage, the therapist applied a clay mask on my face which helped to soothe the skin and alleviate the redness in my skin after all the extractions. After the treatment, my skin looks pretty alright after all the extractions. The whole facial took about an hour.
My Verdict
The facial I tried was quite basic and average but I do notice that their therapists are quite skilled in their massage techniques. I just wish they would be more thorough with each facial step, using more nourishing skincare products, to provide a customer with a more specialized and relaxing skincare treatment.
Perhaps their specialty lies in their body treatments like massages and herbal baths which is one of their most popular treatments. And if I were to head back, I would probably try out their massages or herbal baths. But overall, their service was good. They do not hard sell and their staff is polite.
