Coco Veda: Anti-Hair Fall Coconut-based Haircare products

There’s so much hype about Korean and Japanese beauty brands in the online space but did you know that we do have local brands that offer quality beauty products too? One of such local brands is Coco Veda.

About Coco Veda

Coco Veda is a socially sustainable plant-based brand which uses their Signature Premium Cold-Processed Virgin Coconut Oil as a key ingredient. They are based in Singapore and their products are handcrafted in the Philippines.

Coconut oil-based products

Their products contain no chemicals, parabens or sulphates. If you study the ingredient list closely, they also do not add any commercial fillers or water into their products. They use pure botanical extracts and plant-based oils.

They offer quite a diverse range of products, from skin care, wellness massage oils to pet care and home cleaning products. And one of their bestselling products are its scalp oil. And it is not surprising that this is a bestseller since its key ingredient coconut oil is known for moisturing and strengthening the hair. I had to try it for myself to see how effective it is!

Scalp oils

There are 3 types of scalp oils, catering for each type of scalp condition. There’s one for normal/dry hair, another for hairfall and anti-dandruff.

I tried their scalp oil for hairfall which contains the necessary botanical oils to boost hair growth and strengthens the hair follicles. It contains the following ingredients: Virgin Coconut Oil, Essential Oils of Tea Tree, Rosemary, YlangYlang flower, Neem, Patchouli, Bergamot, Geranium, Clary Sage, Cedar leaf, Thyme and Lavender.

Because it is a mixture of oils, I thought that the resulting blend would be really oily and viscous. To my surprise, the scalp oil is actually quite lightweight and it absorbs easily into my scalp and skin. The scalp oil also smells really pleasant.

How to use the scalp oil?

Based on the given instructions, it is best to warm up the oil before applying directly onto your scalp. You can use your fingers to massage the oil into the scalp and leave it for at least 30 minutes on the scalp before shampooing. You can use it 2 to 3 times a week as suggested on the product label.

As to whether it is effective or not, I would probably need to use for at least 3 to 4 weeks to see results. But I do noticed that there are a few strands of hair sprouting from my scalp. What really stood out is how lightweight the oil is and how it doesn’t leave the scalp or hair feeling too greasy.

Coco Veda Herbal Shampoo (Anti Hair-fall)

I also tried their Anti-hair fall herbal shampoo which contains essential oils of lemon and rosemary. It is a coconut-based waterless and alcohol-free shampoo which lathers pretty well. It is overall gentle on the hair and scalp.
