This Chinese restaurant, along kiliney Road, specialises in this Cantonese-style BBQ Pork, charsiew. Fook Kin is not too far off from Orchard Road and this used to be a rather popular dining spot when it first opened in 2018. It is about a 10-minute walk from Somerset MRT station.
It also happens to located along a stretch of shophouses which are dotted with popular eateries like The Kind Bowl too. People look for more affordable food options along Orchard Road would drop by here for a quick lunch or dinner.
One of the more established Charsiew restaurants in Singapore

I have been to a few charsiew-themed restaurants in Singapore before but they didn’t last for more than 2 years. Fook Kin, on the other hand, is one of the older Charsiew-themed restaurants in Singapore. The co-founders of this restaurant are also behind Roast Paradise, a popular charsiew stall at Old Airport Road Food Centre.
Their coffeeshop-lookalike interior is still giving that retro vibes. And it didn’t change much over the years. And the place is a little dim.
What’s on their menu?

They offer charsiew dishes like charsiew noodles, charsiew rice, charsiew meat platters, roast pork, roast duck and other side dishes. We ordered 5 of their signature dishes to try.
Roast Paradise Don ($15.30)

I would say that the roasted meats tasted slightly above average. You can find roast pork, charsiew and roast duck slices served with half an onsen and some achar on the side. This dish comes with a bowl of clear soup as well. I would say it’s a filling bowl of charsiew rice to have for lunch or dinner.
Supreme Power Truffle Wanton ($20.30)

This wanton noodle is quite a showstopper. It is not because the noodles are outstanding but the presence of the gold-dusted charsiew slices gives it an edge over other dishes. The noodles had a firm bite to it and has the nice truffle flavour to it. You could say it is a well-rounded dish – it has some leafy kailan, fried wantons, ikura and a few slices of charsiew. A unique wanton noodle dish to try if you are really into truffle-flavoured food.
Caramelized Char Siew Small (100G) ($10.30)

The highlight for me was probably their caramelised char siew platter which comes with a sweet Char Siew suace. The meat they used for this platter is very fatty, tender and juicy. It is exactly how a good piece of char siew meat should taste like.
Wasabi Ikura Prawn ($22.50)

They also offer other side dishes as such wasabi ikura prawns which are not too bad in terms of taste. You can order these side dishes to share with your other dining partners.
Peanut Cream ($5)

You can also try some of the local desserts here. The peanut cream soup we had was pretty nice. It’s like a peanut butter-flavoured cream soup topped with peanut candy bits.
Our Verdict

Food is relatively decent but it isn’t a restaurant I would desire to head back. This is because you can also get pretty decent char siew dishes at hawker centres at more affordable prices.
