Tanjong Beach Club at Sentosa returns with a refreshing luxurious laidback beach vibes

Tanjong Beach Club Sentosa Singapore

Tanjong Beach Club has undergone a 4-month refurbishment and now they are back with a newly revamped interior and a new menu. I have not visited Tanjong Beach Club before but totally fell in love with this spot during our visit there.

Getting to Tanjong Beach Club

We took the Sentosa Express to Beach station and then hop onto the Sentosa Tram towards Tanjong Beach where the beach club is located at. You can also walk to the beach club from Beach Station. It took us around 15 minutes.

It may be difficult to find a taxi that would take you straight to the beach club. But that is doable as well.

Lounging by the beach at Tajong Beach Club

There’s a indoor dining area, dining terrace, poolside patio, outdoor pool and daybeds. There’s a bar where guests can sit and lounge.

As for the daybeds and loungers, there’s a minimum spending required in order to use them. And you can make your reservations here. There are daybeds and beach loungers at both the pool and the beach area.

The pool daybeds and pool lounge have a minimum required spending of between $150 to $400. As for the beach side, you can choose to lounge at their signature daybeds (min. spending $200 to $650), beach daybeds (min. spending of $150 to $400), beach loungers (min. spending of $80 to $200) and coastal tables(no min. spending required).

The best time to check out the beach club is during sunset hours as the vibes and atmosphere is just immaculate.

Poolside Patio

Guests can take a dip in the pool, which faces the beach.

Bar Area

The beach club is packed with people on a Saturday evening. It was raining cats and dogs that day but that did not stop beach goers from having fun at the club.

Beach Shop

There’s a little merchanise area for guests to bring home some unique handcrafted sourvenirs.

Restaurant Interior (Indoor dining)

Tanjong Beach Club Sentosa Singapore

The restaurant specialises in wood-fired coastal cuisine and the kitchen is helmed by Head Chef Mong Zhen Yew (formerly of Osteria Mozza and Spago) and developed in consultation with Chef Vallian Gunawan (ex-Executive Chef of Skool). They uses the Mibrasa grill, fuelled by ironbark, binchōtan and applewood, to infuse each dish with a deep, smoky flavour. That intense smoky flavour is prominent in their sticky date pudding so do make sure to order that.

The high ceilings and cosy interior is giving that Bali beach vibes.

What we ate at Tanjong Beach Club?

Tanjong Beach Club Sentosa Singapore

We had a total of 4 appetisers, 2 mains and 2 desserts. For the drinks, they carry a wide range of wines, cocktails and mocktails. They have fresh juices, coffee, tea and other housemade drinks.

The portion for each of these dishes is good for 2 to 3 pax. They offer breakfast items like avocado toast, pancakes and breakfast platter which is available till 2pm. There’s also a signature grill menu, seafood platters and a kid’s menu. The menu is not extensive but well-curated to cater to most dietary needs, including vegetarians and vegans.

Smoked Scallop Ceviche ($34)

Tanjong Beach Club Sentosa Singapore

This scallop ceviche is quite a classic dish and it is relatively good. The fresh plump scallops were dressed with finger lime and apple gel. The pickled jelapeno gives it a refreshing tangy flavour.

Applewood Smoked Beetroot ($18)

Tanjong Beach Club Sentosa Singapore

This is quite an interesting but simple dish to kickstart your appetite. The beetroot is smoked and cooked till its soft and moist. It complements well with the stracciatella and blackberries.

Lobster Tabbouleh ($32)

Tanjong Beach Club Sentosa Singapore

You can start your meal with a salad liek this Lobster Tabbouleh. It’s quite a tasty dish but nothing to shout about. It features fresh boston lobster chunks, resting on a bed of couscous, sundried tomato, mizuna, pomelo and preserved lemon.

Grilled Seasonal Oysters (3 for $27)

Tanjong Beach Club Sentosa Singapore

This dish, on the other hand, is a must-order. They grilled the seasonal oysters with mangalica lardo and garlic butter. It’s a truly indulgent way to consume oysters but it is worth it. The plump juicy oysters soaked in garlic butter left quite an impression on us. And it would be even better if they have served this dish with some toasts so that we can dip it into the melted garlic butter. Heavenly.

Wood-fired Half Chicken ($36)

Tanjong Beach Club Sentosa Singapore

The mains didn’t really shine as compared to the appetisers we had earlier on. The chicken was great but nothing to shout about. If not for the red mojo sauce and labneh, this chicken would come off as something really ordinary.

Dry-aged Barramundi ($36)

Tanjong Beach Club Sentosa Singapore

The crackly barramundi skin tasted a tad too salty for us. I can’t deny the fact that the fish is fresh but somehow the tomato vierge did not quite elevate the taste of the dish.

Blood Orange Tart ($20)

Tanjong Beach Club Sentosa Singapore

This is something refreshing to have if you love a good citrusy tart as desserts after a meal. If not for the dollop of creme fraiche, pistachios and candied caramel bits, the tart itself would tast like any regular tart. This dessert is good for sharing between 2 to 3 pax.

Sticky Date Pudding ($16)

Tanjong Beach Club Sentosa Singapore

You are going to regret if you walk out of the beach club without ordering their sticky date pudding because this stole the limelight and it appears to be everyone’s favourite at the table. This is not your overly sweet caramelised sticky date pudding but a soft and sponge-like date pudding served with smoked milk ice cream and butterscotch sauce at the side. I am pretty sure that the pudding itself has this smoky charred applewood flavour as well. That added flavour made this dessert truly outstanding.

Our Verdict

Having dinner by the beach during sunset hours does come off as something really romantic. Instead of rooftop dining, you can always opt for a romantic sunset beach dinner at the beach club with your special one. The food, vibes and service at Tanjong Beach Club are all on point.

Tanjong Beach Club would be lingering at the back of my head for quite some time.
