Situated in the heart of Chinatown, this new two-storey STARBUCKS® outlet is approximately a 3-minute walk from Chinatown MRT station Exit A. This also marks the first STARBUCKS® outlet in Singapore to be housed within a heritage shophouse. This will probably be another must-visit attraction in Singapore for tourists or any Starbucks fans.

What is unique about this Starbucks outlet?
It not only carries a local heritage charm with its local-inspired interior but it also offers exclusive drinks, food and Starbucks merchandise which are only available at this Starbucks outlet.

Upon entering the store, you will be greeted by “星巴克” (Starbucks) on a handcrafted wooden signboard which is carved by Chinese calligraphy master artist, Yong Cheong Thye from Yong Gallery. The intricate wood carvings done on the signboard is by Master Cheh Kai Hon.

On the first storey, you will find the Starbucks counter where you can placed your orders. Right behind the counter is a separate retail shop where they displayed all the Starbucks Merchandise. There are seatings across both storeys. I would say that the place is rather work and study-friendly. There are powerpoints at the seating area on Level 1.
The murals painted on the wall were done by Singapore-born artist and illustrator Tiffany Lovage.

Starbucks Retail Store

This dedicated retail space showcases an exclusive line of merchandise in collaboration with local calligraphy artist, JunleFont, as well as other collections like Starbucks® + WHENIWASFOUR Local Destination collection and STARBUCKS® LION DANCE SERIES.

The highlight is probably this STARBUCKS® exclusive Samsui Bearista Plush Keychain which is a tribute to the iconic Samsui woman. The Bearista Plush is dressed in traditional Samsui women attire with a bright red clog charm. This is quite a unique and meaningful keepsake for both locals and tourists. I heard from their staff that this is one of their popular sale items.

Exclusive Starbucks Menu at Starbucks 37 Smith Street Store

There are two Starbucks store exclusive drinks that incorporate a unique twist to classic Singaporean favorites: Black Sesame Oatmilk Coffee Frappuccino® with Soy Pudding and Yuan Yang Coffee Frappuccino®.
STARBUCKS® also collaborates with OLD SENG CHOONG to launch exclusive locally-inspired treats like XL Chicken Char Siew Puff ($6), Java Chip Frappuccino® Swiss Roll ($7.20), Starbucks® Coffee Egg Tart ($3.90), Starbucks® Coffee Bolo Bun with Butter ($4.90), Pandan Chiffon Cake (Sliced $3.90) and Lychee Swiss Roll ($7.20). The bakes, in our opinion, is worth a try as they differ from the usual pastries offered at STARBUCKS® .

Black Sesame Oatmilk Coffee Frappuccino® with Soy Pudding (Grande: $9.90)
This drink is a mix of roasted black sesame and coffee which is then blended with ice and milk. It is topped with a custard-like soy pudding and topped with whipped cream. To me, this beverage tasted pretty average. The nutty black sesame flavour isn’t very prominent.
Yuan Yang Coffee Frappuccino® (Grande: $9.90)
This drink is a blend of coffee, toasty hojicha, creamy milk and chocolate chips. It is then finished with whipped cream. It’s interesting that they used Hojicha, a Japanese roasted tea, instead of Chinese tea blends.
Is it worth visiting this new Starbucks outlet?

It’s definitely worth dropping by this new Starbucks outlet in Chinatown if you are a huge Starbucks fan. It is a nice spot to grab a drink and just sit by the windows on the second storey to do people watch.
