Balloon Museum’s POP AIR – Art is Inflatable exhibition is now at Marina Bay Sands

This June holiday, the wildly popular Balloon Museum is bringing its whimsical and larger-than-life exhibition, POP AIR – Art is Inflatable, to Singapore for the very first time.

From June 7 to August 31, 2025, one of the exhibition halls at Basement 2 of Marina Bay Sands Expo will be transformed into a massive playground of air, art, and imagination — and yes, you can literally touch the art itself. It is one of those art exhibitions which allows you to move freely and interact with the exhibits.

What is the POP AIR – Art is inflatable exhibition about?

Curated and produced by Lux Entertainment, this is the world’s largest event dedicated to inflatable and air-based installations. It is the first Exhibition dedicated to the Inflatable Art made in Italy. Think giant balloon sculptures, surreal inflatable rooms, and digital art that responds to your movement — all spread across a whopping 6,000 square metres.

The Balloon museum is the first travelling contemporary art exhibition dedicated to inflatable Art. They have travelled across 14 cities so far and this is their first time here in Singapore. They are internationally recognised and have received 2 World Best Event Awards and 6 Italian Best Event Awards.

This exhibition features a total of 17 new monumental and interactive works by leading contemporary international artists. Each of these art installations offers a unique theme that sparks emotion and play, inspiring curiosity and imagination in young and grown-up minds alike.

You will be plunge into darkness the moment you enter the room filled with thick smoke and soap bubbles floating in space. That’s something magical about this room as you will feel as if time has suspended and suddenly everything around you slows down. Stretch out your fingers and burst as many bubbles as you want. But do walk around carefully in this room as it is pitch black and the floor seems slippery.

7. Swing by MOTOREFISICO

Hop on a stationary bike and pedal to generate green electricity that brings glowing, tree-like sculptures to life. As you ride, the bike-powered installation lights up, moves, and expands, turning your energy into a stunning, ever-changing canopy of colour. It’s fun, interactive, and eco-friendly — perfect for those who love to move and create at the same time.

10. Silenus by Max Streicher

Pop Air Art in inflatable Balloon Museum Marina Bay Sands Singapore Sands Expo

Max Streicher is interested in the ‘kinesthetic’ potential of the inflatable as a medium. Although you can’t exactly interact with this installation in particular, it was still fascinating to see this giant ‘floating’, like an astronaut in space.

11. ADA by Karina Smigla – Bobinski

This is a floating, spiky balloon filled with helium and charcoal tips — and you get to push it around to create art. As it glides, it leaves wild, unpredictable marks on the walls and floor, turning your movements into a living, evolving drawing. That is why you will see black marks on the wall.

12. Crazy Love For Polygons by Cyril Lancelin

Pop Air Art in inflatable Balloon Museum Marina Bay Sands Singapore Sands Expo

This is a space where you’re free to move the light Polygon inflatables around, totally up to your creativity! You can freely navigate around and within the structures, using these geometric figures to create art. It’s a great spot for family bonding, IG-worthy photos, and letting the little ones burn off some energy while engaging their minds through hands-on play and exploration.

13. Glowing Ballet by Hyperstudio with Mauro Pace

Pop Air Art in inflatable Balloon Museum Marina Bay Sands Singapore Sands Expo

This is my favourite part of the exhibit as it is quite magical to see the ultraviolet illuminated balloons dancing in the air in a chaotic but beautiful manner.

14. 10 Agosto by Hyperstudio

This strangely reminds me of a carousel. You can sit on one of the 22 swings which hang from a grand circular structure. The floating ring of shimmering lights moves dynamically up and down, mimicking the fleeting brillance of shooting stars. It feels like you are sitting under a constellation of stars.

15. The Goof by Filthy Luker

These inflatable monsters are located close to the Balloon Shop where you can purchase huge balloon sculptures.

16. Into The Rainbow by Ultravioletto

You get to put on the VR headset and get ready for a surreal VR adventure that takes you up, down, and across a rainbow of fantastical worlds. From floating through a blue underwater scene to spotting a flying rubber duck or an astronaut over a red sea, Into the Rainbow is a whimsical ride through colour and creativity. Each stop is a visual surprise, brought to life through a magical elevator that lifts you into new, dreamlike dimensions.

17. The Ginjos by Rub Kandy

Spot this colourful ensemble near the cafe area. These GINJOS are predominantly silent. They lack mouths but can still convey a smile through their cute form and vibrant colours.

Merchandise Shops & Cafe

At the end of the exhibition, there is a balloon shop, a food counter where you can grab some light bites and drinks. Also, be sure to check out the merchandise area. You’ll find POP AIR-themed t-shirts, keychains, and water bottles — perfect as gifts or keepsakes to remember your visit. There is even a flower bar where you can purchase flower and animal-shaped balloons starting from $1.50!

Verdict: Is It Worth Going?

Absolutely — POP AIR – Art is Inflatable is 100% worth a visit. It’s the kind of place that heals your inner child, sparks joy, and makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a colourful dream. The whole exhibition is interactive and highly Instagrammable, making it perfect for families, couples, or friends looking for something unique to do.

It will be more worth it for young families with children as they can purchase the bundle tickets at a lower price. Otherwise, it can be quite costly to get single tickets. But with existence of similar-themed interactive art exhibitions showcased here in Singapore, I personally find that such exhibitions can be somewhat repetitive. This is especially the case for those who have visited such art exhibitions before.

It will take you about 1 hour to explore the entire space, but it may take longer if it’s crowded or if you want to take your time at each installation. The exhibition is kid-friendly and wheelchair accessible (as rooms are wide), so everyone can join in the fun. There’s no strict dress code — just wear comfy shoes since you’ll be walking a lot, and bring your camera or phone fully charged because trust us, you’ll want to capture everything.
