In celebration of SG60, dsm-firmenich has created a scent called Singapore Eco Orchid which was inspired by an orchid from National Orchid Garden. Through a special collaboration with OSIM, this fragrance can be brought into our homes with uMist Aroma Humidifier.
This commemorative fragrance also honors the two key milestones for Singapore Botanic Gardens – the 10th anniversary of its UNESCO World Heritage Site inscription and the 30th anniversary of the National Orchid Garden.
This Orchid behind the fragrance
The Singapore Eco Orchid fragrance is made using Vandachostylis Fuchs Ocean Spray, a captivating orchid that nestles within the National Orchid Garden. This particular orchid species caught the attention of the perfumers from dsm-firmenich. Its soft purple powdery and creamy petals glowed like vanilla clouds.
How the scent was created
dsm-firmenich experts were able to capture the orchid flower’s olfactive scent without damaging it through the use of a cutting-edge nnovation named NaturePrint®. This process simply captures a flower’s ‘breath’.
NaturePrint® is a Headspace technology, a sustainable method that protects Nature – especially with rare, endangered and exotic botanical species. It works by collecting scent molecules through Solid Phase Microextraction (SPME) followed by analysis and reconstruction using Gas Chromatography (GC). The scent itself is reconstructed without extracting any oils from the orchids.

Singapore Eco Orchid, built around the orchid NaturePrint®, opens with a refreshing burst of fruity citrus, mingled with watery green notes. At its heart, a radiant floral symphony of orchid, muguet, and rose unfolds. The scent lingers with a soft, comforting base of creamy vanilla and powdery musk. This scent is a tribute to the graceful beauty and quiet strength of nature that defines Singapore.
Singapore Eco Orchid also contains EmotiWaves®, a fragrance technology, tested for brain activity using a patented fMRI methodology and proven to elicit relaxation.
