165 Sky Dining at Singapore Flyer: Best Dining Spot with a view of Singapore’s City Skyline

Did you know that you can dine in one of the capsules at Singapore Flyer? They have recently launched a new menu theme, ‘An Ode to Singapore’. This is an imaginative culinary tribute to Singapore’s vibrant cultural heritage crafted in celebration of the nation’s 60 years of independence. They, too, had their own SG60 special offering.

What is it like to dine at Singapore Flyer?

This is what it is like to dine 165m above the metropolis. We went on a Saturday evening during the NDP rehearsal season so we were able to view the NDP firework show from the capsule too.

VIP Lounge

Singapore Flyer Dining Experience

The whole Singapore Flyer dining experience starts from the VIP lounge. Dinner is at 7pm and registration starts from 6.30pm. We all meet at the VIP lounge for some light refreshments. They offer pretzels, popcorn and water that day.

While waiting, it’s best to make a trip to the bathroom because there are no toilet breaks in between the 1.5 hour dining experience as the capsule rotates non-stop. So there is no way for you to rush to the toilet and come back. Each rotation takes around 30 minutes.

For this dining experience, we have to sit through 3 complete rotations.

Boarding the Group Capsule

From the VIP lounge, we were ushered directly to the capsule along with other 6 guests that day. Each capsule can accommodate up to 10 guests. You can dine in twos or groups of 4. If there are no other guests who signed up for this package that day, you might just get to have the whole capsule to yourself.

You can also opt the Private Couples’ Celebration Capsule package where you can enjoy the whole capsule to yourself. But those packages will come at a higher cost.

Our personal host sat us down at our tables and began serving us water and bread. There will be one staff onboard who will serve us.

‘An Ode to Singapore’ edition (from 1 July to 30 Sep 2025)

This special curated menu features 5 courses. We took the standard package ($460 nett for 2 pax) includes a 5-course dinner, 2 glasses of Singapore Sling and a limited edition Singapore Flyer souvenir for each guests. They offer vegetarian menu too.

We noticed that the first 3 courses of our meal was already prepared and loaded at this station. So we will be having our first 3 dishes during the first rotation of the Singapore Flyer. This menu draws inspiration from time-honoured recipes across Singapore and the region, reimagined with refined techniques and innovative pairings. Food turned out to be pretty good and we enjoyed the first few courses. The guests seated at the table next to us were also complimenting how great the food was.

From bold sambals to nostalgic notes of pandan and coconut, each course is a tribute to tradition with a modern twist – served alongside a view as breathtaking as the dishes themselves. I would say that each dish presented is Southeast Asian-inspired.

Additional Beverages

Singapore Flyer Dining Experience

You are able to order additional beverages an additional cost. You can order and make payment before boarding the capsule or during the dining experience in the capsule.

The standard package we went for includes 2 glasses of Singapore Sling which are available in both alcoholic and non-alcoholic versions.

Singapore Sling

We went for the mocktail version and it tasted pretty much like a sugary syrup drink with tropical fruity flavour.

Basket of Bread and Fresh Truffle Butter

Singapore Flyer Dining Experience

The basket of bread was already at our table the moment we came in. My only qualm is that the bread is not warmed up and they are served cold at the table. The truffle butter was pretty good though.

Deconstructed Laksa Boston Lobster

Singapore Flyer Dining Experience

This is a bold reinterpretation of the iconic Singaporean laksa. It comprises of laksa leaf ash, fresh coconut cream, grilled pineapple, sago pearls, chili olive oil. The aromatic coconut broth did not instantly reminded me of laksa but it is quite appetising. The flavour works well together and overall, it was an enjoyable dish.

Sambal Salad with Japanese Bean Curd

Singapore Flyer Dining Experience

Plated on a colourful porcelain plate are lettuce, Norwegian shrimp, cucumber, pine nuts, beancurd and sambal dressing. The flavours are very ‘Indonesian’ and I remembered that there were slices of starfruits in it too. The familiar, comforting taste of sambal chilies wasn’t very spicy. It was another delightful dish to have.

Double-boiled Chicken Bak Kut Teh

Singapore Flyer Dining Experience

After the salad, we had soup. This was kept warm in a glass flask and the staff placed the flask which resembles a coffee filter glass strainer. The chicken and seafood tortellini actually works well with the Bak Kut Teh soup. My only qualm is that the amount of soup given was quite little and it would be alot better if it was hotter. Nonetheless, it is still a tasty and comforting soup to have.

At this point, the sky started to turn dark. We could not see the sunset from here but the view was nonetheless immaculate.

After 30 minutes, we reached the boarding station and the staff load up the station with the mains. We also asked for more truffle butter for the bread and they were able to served us more butter as well.

Pandan Chilean Seabass with Kecap Manis

Singapore Flyer Dining Experience

This dish features sweet Indonesian soy glaze, smoked yoghurt, wing bean, ginger flower and Chilean Seabass. The fish was fresh and it was another dish packed with Asian flavours.

Wagyu Sirloin Steak with Har Cheong Butter

Singapore Flyer Dining Experience

My partner had the Wagyu Sirloin Steak which features shrimp paste butter, beef jus, wing bean and ginger flower. The beef was surprisingly quite tender and easy to cut through with the table knife provided. It’s quite a huge slab of wagyu steak as well.

NDP Fireworks Show

Singapore Flyer Dining Experience

I guess this was the highlight for us. Right after we finish our mains, the fireworks show started and we managed to watch the fireworks from right above. Without the fireworks show, I felt that the whole dinner experience would have been quite stagnant. It just felt really nice to have something to watch and appreciate while we are having dinner together.

Selection of Nespresso Coffee or Gryphon Tea

Singapore Flyer Dining Experience

Another beverage was served together with our meal. You can choose between tea or coffee and you can you ask for another serving if you like. At this point, we were on our third rotation at the Singapore Flyer.

Ondeh Ondeh Cake with Tropical Fruits

Singapore Flyer Dining Experience

The desserts weren’t very impressive though. The Ondeh Ondeh cake is just a regular pandan sponge cake with gula melaka, coconut fresh cream and grated coconut. But I like that they serve 3 different kinds of tropical fruits which most locals would be familiar with. We had a slice of jackfruit, guava and a rambutan.

Petit fours by Award-winning Singaporean Chef Janice Wong

Singapore Flyer Dining Experience

After desserts, they gave us a chocolate thin by Janice wong each and a little Singapore Flyer souvenir. It’s a small glass cup with the metallic imprint of Singapore Flyer.

Our Verdict

Singapore Flyer Dining Experience

This experience would have been great for tourists who are visiting Singapore because they get to try the locally-inspired dishes. The iconic city skyline and views would appeal to them more. Without the fireworks show, it would be just another dining experience with a view of Marina Bay.

As for the food, we enjoyed all of the courses except for the desserts which is pretty mundane in my opinion. It would be nice if they serve a housemade dessert that complement with the tropical fruits.

Overall, the experience was still quite a memorable one though. It is a good dining option to celebrate special occasion with your loved ones.
