If you’ve ever craved something sweet past midnight, 2am:dessertbar has you covered. Located in Holland Village, this late-night gem has become a cult favourite among dessert lovers, founded by none other than Janice Wong—Singapore’s very own dessert queen. More than just a chef, Janice is also a chocolatier, artist, and entrepreneur, best known for her edible art installations and innovative approach to desserts that perfectly balances her love with food and art.
A Hidden Spot in Holland Village
Just a 3-minute walk from Holland Village MRT (Exit B), the bar is tucked away behind Brewlander bar. Follow the route past the main stretch and on the left you’ll find the discreet entrance, making it feel like you’re discovering a secret hideout.
The Interior
The space itself is dark, minimalistic, with RnB beats filling the air. Most of the seating is at the bar, so it’s perfect for date nights or small groups (though you’ll want to make a reservation if you’re planning to bring a bigger crowd).
What’s on the menu
At 2am Dessert Bar, you won’t just find ordinary cakes and puddings. Instead, the menu feels like something out of a MasterChef finale—where textures, flavours, and techniques collide in innovative ways. Janice Wong’s philosophy is about pushing the boundaries of what dessert can be, and you can taste that in every dish.
Currently, you can order desserts and cocktails from their ala carte menu. They are also offering a 6-course dessert menu ($65++ per person) which is inspired by Janice Wong’s travels. There is also a cocktail pairing option for this menu too.
Here are some of the signature ala carte desserts we tried.
Snickers ($24)
This is a unique take on the classic chocolate bar. This dessert layers a silky chocolate mousse with caramel bavarois which has a custard pudding texture, topped with an assortment of crunchy nuts for contrast. The real highlight of this dish is the medley of textures you get in every bite from creamy to crunch, without being overly sweet. Paired with a scoop of their sweet wood vanilla ice cream which has a delicate, almost earthy note. A must-try for nut lovers.
Chocolate H2O ($25)
This is actually one of their signature desserts. It is a standout chocolate dessert that strikes the perfect harmony between indulgent and refreshing. The intense dark chocolate is rich without being overwhelming, thanks to the kochi yuzu sorbet that cuts through the heaviness with a citrusy lift, keeping each bite light and balanced. The crumbly textures add another layer of surprise and the pairing with the salted caramel sauce ties everything together. Bold yet refreshing, this is the one dish I’d come back for.
Firewater ($24)
Built around a base of spiced rum ice cream, the first bite packs a strong alcoholic punch, almost like taking a shot with your dessert. It’s bold and definitely something alcohol lovers would enjoy.
It’s served with a few pieces of miso chocolate fudge, but the rum flavour is so strong that it covers up most of the other taste profiles within the dish. Fun to try, but not as memorable as some of the other desserts here.
Green Glass ($20)
A vegan, no-sugar-added dessert that layers dark chocolate with some unique toppings. It comes with spinach jelly (an interesting choice, though it does add a slightly grassy taste), plus banana chocolate foam, raisin foam, and earl grey whipped ganache. The flavours are well put together, but it might not be for everyone. Not my personal favourite, but it’s a nice option for vegan diners who want something special.
Portion sizes are good for sharing between 2 people, and the presentation of each dish is undeniably stunning which makes them almost too pretty to eat. If you are dining in groups of 3 or 4, you can order 2 to 3 desserts to share.
Beyond Just Desserts
2am Dessert Bar also offers seasonal workshops inspired by Chef Janice Wong’s artistry and innovation.
This September, they are introducing a Chocolate Mooncake Workshop as a Mid-Autumn special. Each session comes with a box of 4 Janice Wong chocolate mooncakes which you will be making onsite, a pot of Janice Wong tea, and a pistachio mooncake.
The workshops do run a little long (while waiting for the chefs to temper the chocolate), but it’s a lovely way to spend an afternoon with friends, chatting while appreciating the artistry and patience behind Janice Wong’s craft.
Our Verdict of 2am:dessertbar
Would I head back again? Definitely, for the Chocolate H2O and Snickers. While some desserts lean on the pricier side, you’re really paying for the experience, artistry, and high-quality ingredients that Janice Wong is known for.
It’s not your everyday dessert stop, but a place you can come to for special occasions, romantic nights out, or when you want to impress a friend with something unique. It also opens till late so if you are looking for a late-night dessert spot, 2am:dessertbar would be it.
