Burma Social – New Menu: A Culinary Journey Across the Silk Road

Burma Social unveils a refreshed menu that reimagines its well-loved signatures while introducing bold new flavours. It is one of the more unique dining spots in Singapore that offers modern Burmese dishes.

Previously, their menu is rooted in traditional Burmese recipes and enriched with contemporary Pan-Asian touches from neighbouring cuisines including Chinese, Thai, Indian, Bangladeshi, and Laotian influences. The new menu now journeys even further east, incorporating Japanese-inspired elements for a vibrant celebration of Silk Road flavours and heritage.

It will take you on a journey across the Silk Road, featuring everything from wok and fried dishes, dim sum, sushi rolls, bao buns, hearty mains to Silk Road delicacies. This new menu is now available at both of their outlets in Joo Chiat and Tras Street.

Interior & Ambience

Menu Highlights

The Gold-Dusted Prawn & Chives Har Gao ($24) ⭐

Burma Social Singapore Tras Street

A luxurious take on a dim sum classic, delicate translucent skin wrapped around juicy, fresh prawns, topped with edible gold dust for that extra touch of elegance. The prawns were plump, bouncy, and bursting with flavour, with everything you love about a traditional har gao, but richer and more indulgent.

Chicken Teriyaki Bao ($17)

Burma Social Singapore Tras Street

Soft and pillowy bao buns filled with tender teriyaki chicken, glazed to perfection. The bao was moist and slightly sweet, easy to share since it comes in a set of two. A comforting, fuss-free bite that balances savoury and sweet in just the right way.

Coastal Crab Curry & Pav ($38) ⭐

Burma Social Singapore Tras Street

This crab dish is standout dish of the night! The soft-shell crab is served with fluffy house-made Pav. The soft-shell crab was huge, crispy, and incredibly fresh, paired with a thick crab curry that leaned on the drier side but packed so much flavour and a light, addictive spiciness.

The pav was soft, fluffy, and buttery, easily one of the best versions we’ve tried. I really enjoyed this dish as a seafood lover and would definitely return for it.

While the price is on the steeper side, it came in a decent portion size and can be a sharing dish among your friends.

Braised Pork Belly ($28)

Burma Social Singapore Tras Street

This dish came in a generous portion of melt-in-your-mouth pork belly, cooked till tender and rich with flavour. Quite expensive but you get your money’s worth with the amount of meat. Each bite was soft, savoury, and comforting — perfect for those who love hearty, slow-cooked meats.

Piquillo Wild Roll ($14)

Burma Social Singapore Tras Street

A refreshing and vibrant sushi roll filled with piquillo pepper, asparagus, avocado, cucumber, and pickled radish, topped with a bright chilli mango salsa. It’s crunchy, light, and slightly tangy, great for cutting through the heavier mains, but the portion is not very big as it only comes with 4.

If you prefer something more classic, they have other options like Aburi Salmon Yuzu Roll ($16) or Crispy Tempura Avocado Maki ($16). Both are crowd favourites and easy to share.

Avocado Lahpet Thoke ($22)

Burma Social Singapore Tras Street

A creative spin on the traditional Burmese tea leaf salad, featuring creamy avocado and a mix of crispy nuts. The vinegar dressing added a sharp contrast to the earthy tea leaves, creating a unique balance of textures and flavours. It’s tangy, nutty, and highly addictive, a must-try if you want to try something different.

Dessert: Falooda ($21)

To end off, we had the Falooda which is a fun dessert served chilled, layered with rose and khus jellies, basil seeds, vermicelli, and coconut ice cream. Light yet flavourful, it’s the perfect sweet finish with a mix of textures in every spoonful. I really enjoyed it this dessert as it is not too sweet and was quite refreshing after a full meal.

Drinks

Burma Social Singapore Tras Street
Right: Burma Toddy ($15), Left: Mekong Lotus ($25)

Burma Social’s cocktail & mocktail menu is equally playful, weaving in Asian ingredients with familiar classics. We tried the Burma Toddy ($15), which was a mocktail that combined burmese tea, cinnamon and tamarind juice, it was really surprisingly complex and had a warm spicy flavour which we enjoyed. It was served in a teapot.

Another drink we enjoyed was the Mekong Lotus ($25). This cocktail is made with vodka, coconut water, lychee and pandan syrup. It is a floral and fragrant cocktail which was easy to drink.

Our Verdict

Burma Social Singapore Tras Street

Burma Social’s new menu is a celebration of culture, creativity, and bold flavours, blending culinary traditions from across the Silk Road into a single dining experience. Must-orders for me include the Coastal Crab Curry & Pav, Gold-Dusted Prawn & Chives Har Gao as well as the Avocado Lahpet Thoke, which offers a unique twist and interesting flavour. I would definitely be back, especially for their inventive drinks like the Burma Toddy, a one-of-a-kind drink that you won’t find anywhere else!

The vibrant atmosphere, combined with its versatile dining spaces, makes it a go-to spot for both special date nights or even group celebrations. The new menu is available at both their Tras Street and Siglap outlets, so be sure to check them out for a dining experience that blends Burmese heritage with modern flair.
