Modern Spanish Restaurant FOC Restaurant reopens at Keong Saik Road — and the food was amazing

After 11 years on Hongkong Street, FOC Restaurant has found a new home at Keong Saik Road. If you’ve been a fan since the start, the new space will feel both new and nostalgic. The design carries over those familiar FOC touches — the bold wall stencils, warm lighting, and a lively buzz that makes you want to stay for “just one more drink.”

Background

Named after the Catalan word foc (fire), FOC was launched in 2014 by Michelin-starred Chef Nandu Jubany and Spain enthusiasts, FOC Group. They wanted to bring authentic Barcelonian flavours to Singapore. Its first outpost, FOC Restaurant at Hong Kong Street, was followed by FOC by the Beach. Its menu features Josper-grilled small plates with Mediterranean influences, complemented by inventive cocktails that capture the taste of Barcelona.

Atmosphere & Vibes

FOC Restaurant has a capacity of 54 seats and can host bigger groups at one seating. There’s also a more spacious private dining room which can house up to 16 guests. There are also bar counter seats where you can enjoy some pre-dinner drinks before a sumptuous meal here at FOC Restaurant.

We got seated right by the counter, and honestly, it felt like being in a scene straight out of Hell’s Kitchen, minus the chaos and yelling. 👨‍🍳 The synchronised “Yes, Chef!” calls, the team moving in perfect rhythm, and the head chef calling out “Table 1 ready!”, it was amazing to witness it live.

The vibe here is fun and social, think big group dinners, celebrations, or catch-ups with friends. There were even birthday groups around us when we went! It’s not exactly a dimly lit date-night spot, but it’s perfect if you want energy, laughter, and good food all in one space.

Food Highlights 🍴

FOC’s new menu continues to celebrate authentic Catalan flavours, reimagined with a playful twist. From tapas and paella to mains and desserts, everything we tried showed off their balance of creativity and technique. Their menu is quite well-curated. It isn’t that extensive but it has all the classic Spanish dishes that one would find at a Spanish restaurant.

Besides the menu highlights, there are also daily specials featuring seasonal meats, seafood, vegetables and more, each crafted following traditional Catalan recipes. You can ask the staff for their daily specials.

Our meal started off with some snacks and tapas.

Smoked Cantabrico Anchovies on Charcoal Brioche with Salted Caramel Butter ($11 / 2 pieces)  ⭐

Our first dish was the surprise hit of the night, and one of my favourites! Sweet, salty, and smoky all at once — the anchovy had none of that usual fishiness, just a rich umami balance that worked so well with the buttery brioche. My only complain was that it was so small that I wanted more of it cause it was just that good.

Dry-aged Wagyu Beef Tartare with Caramelised Onion Ice Cream ($20 / 2 pieces) ⭐

This dish was insanely good. The beef was fresh and tender, without any raw taste, and that caramelised onion ice cream was so pleasantly sweet with just a hint of savoury onion. A must-try combination of ingredientat that feels like a science experiment done right.

Patatas Bravas FOC Style ($6 / 2 pieces)

This Classic Spanish comfort food is another dish which is done right! Crispy potato chunks topped with a dollop of aioli and spicy tomato sauce. This is a perfect starter to share.

Toasted Bread with Tomatoes ($6 / 2 pieces)

This is a simple, fresh, yet refreshing dish. Even if you’re not a tomato fan (like me), this one would win you over. It’s meant to be eaten with the dry cured ham, Jamon, but it arrived before, and we couldn’t resist — we devoured it anyway.

Hand-cut Ibérico Jamon (100% Acorn, Cured 36 months) ($34) ⭐

This dish comprises of premium Spanish cured ham from Ibérico pigs. It is rich, nutty, and had just the right amount of saltiness. I really enjoyed this dish but I don’t think it might not be for everyone.

Momotaro Tomato Salad ($20)

This was a really unique dish. It is served cold with tomato sorbet, chive oil, and hazelnuts — super refreshing, slightly sweet, and unlike any salad I had tried before. Even if you don’t like tomatoes, trust me, you’ll love this.

Charcoal-grilled Octopus ($34)

The charcoal-grilled octopus is served with Pork Jowl, Cabbage ‘Trinxat’ and Paprika Ajada. The octopus was perfectly charred and smoky, with tender and chewy. The pork jowl added that fatty richness that ties it all together.

Mains & Paella

Braised Oxtail  ($42)

The braised oxtail is stuffed with Foie Gras, Port Win Sauce, Parsnip and basil pesto. This is one of the richest dishes we had that evening. It is extremely flavourful and would recommend this as a sharing dish as it might be too heavy for one person.

Seafood ‘Senyoret’ Paella ⭐ ($54)

The paella is loaded with Carabinero red prawns, Hokkaido scallops, and squid. All of the paellas are served with aioli on the side. This paella was EVERYTHING. The rice had that gorgeous socarrat (crispy bottom layer) and deep seafood flavour, comforting and aromatic without being overly salty. This was our last dish and even though we were so full, we still demolished it. I would 100% order this again.

Sweet Endings 🍫

Molten Chocolate & Hazelnut Gianduja Cake with Pistachio Ice Cream ⭐ ($18)

This dessert is a perfect finishing touch to our meal. This dessert was rich but not overwhelming, with the right balance of sweetness and crunch. That molten centre and pistachio ice cream pairing was heavenly. An absolute must-try for chocolate lovers.

Drinks 🍸

FOC’s drinks menu is extensive — think cheeky cocktail names like Monkey Business, Old Flame, and Kiss from a Rose, plus a whole lineup of G&Ts, whiskies, and rums.

We tried Te Aperol ($22) made with home-made tea infused Aperol, creme demure, cava and soda, garnished with flower petals and mist. It was sweet and smokey at the same time and was easy to drink with such a heavy meal.

Our Verdict 💭

Its safe to say I fell in love with Catalan cuisine after this meal. FOC’s move to Keong Saik feels like a well-deserved upgrade — keeping its Catalan roots while adding even more energy and personality. The open kitchen setup really makes it an experience rather than just dinner.

The must-tries include their Smoked Anchovies, Wagyu Tartare, Momotaro Salad, Seafood Paella, and of course, the Molten Chocolate Cake. Everything felt thoughtfully crafted, balanced, and packed with flavour.

I’d say FOC is perfect for group dinners, birthdays, or celebrations — anywhere you want great vibes and memorable food. It’s not too formal, not too loud, just the right balance of good vibes and good food.

Would I go back? A 1000% yes! Every dish we tried had it’s own flair was so delicious that I’m still stuck here at the restaurant(*Taylor Swift reference*). There are still so many items from the menu that I have not eaten and am eager to try! The energy, food, and service hit the spot.
