Hanbang Beauty is a beauty and wellness centre that offers Korean facial and slimming treatments. They have recently just open their flagship outlet at Our Tampines Hub, right next to K-Skin. They are known for the Signature Korean Geunmak™ Therapy and advanced KryoSculpt slimming technology.
SIGNATURE GEUNMAK™ TECHNIQUE
What makes their facial treatments unique is the incorporation of Korean facial massage technique called Geunmak™ technique. Every facial treatment on their menu has this facial massage step which help release tension and promote better circulation in the face, shoulders, neck and jawline. The Geunmak™ technique is performed by therapists who undergo specialized training from Korean experts.
I personally have not tried such Korean facials before so I knew that I had to try it for myself. I was invited to try one of their facial treatments at their outlet in Tampines. And here’s my honest review of the whole experience.
Facial Experience
The treatment starts with a skin analysis using Hanbang Beauty’s advanced skin analysis machine, which evaluates key skin conditions such as hydration levels, sebum balance, pore condition, and pigmentation. I personally felt that the analysis was more for the therapist to understand my skin condition. The consultation was quite brief but I was able to find out my current skin condition in one glance so the analysis is useful to some extent.
They have several treatments to choose from and all treatments include extractions and the signature Korean facial massage technique. All of their treatments are offered at a trial price of $68. If your skin requires some lifting and toning, I would suggest trying their Dermal Collagen Firm Ritual Facial, which is priced at $288 at the regular rate.
Currently, they are using SkinCeuticals products for their facial treatments.
Dermal Collagen Firm Ritual Facial
The treatment takes about 85 minutes and starts with a scalp massage, followed by a double-cleansing step to thoroughly cleanse the skin. The therapist then uses a scrubber to exfoliate the skin and remove dead skin cells.
After the basic cleansing steps, she proceeds with extractions to unclog the pores and clear the skin. For me, extraction is an important part of any facial because it helps ensure that the pores are properly cleansed before applying any ampoule or skincare products.
After the extraction, she uses a cooling device to soothe my skin before moving on to the facial massage using the Geunmak™ technique.
The massage session lasted around 15 to 20 minutes and felt almost like a deep-tissue massage. My facial muscles felt slightly sore after the treatment, but the overall experience was still relatively comfortable. And to be honest, it felt really good after the massage. It was almost as if all the tension and knots in my face had melted away.
I guess this is what makes their facial truly unique, and the facial massage was definitely the highlight of the treatment for me.
In fact, if I were to go back again, I would probably opt for one of their more basic facial treatments since it also incorporates their signature facial massage technique.
After the massage, the therapist used hot stones to massage around my eye area before applying a mask. While the mask was sitting on my skin, she proceeded with a neck and shoulder massage.
My Verdict
Overall, the facial was a very relaxing experience. The most noticeable difference for me was how lifted and toned my face looked after the treatment. In all honesty, I felt that the effects of their signature Geunmak™ massage were more noticeable for me than some of the lifting treatments I’ve tried that rely mainly on machines.
The facial massage was definitely the highlight of the experience, and if you’re looking for something beyond the usual cleanse-and-mask facial, I think Hanbang Beauty’s Korean-inspired approach is worth trying—especially at the current $68 trial price. And personally, I would say the basic facial treatment here is sufficient.
