Do you feel the need to reinvigorate your senses lately? Maybe it’s a time for a spa session to wind down and pamper yourself. A new spa boutique, Senses Spa and Beauty at The Cathay offers a quiet sanctuary for those who prefer some privacy and serenity. The outlet, which opened just a year ago, looks swanky and rather luxurious with its well-designed consultation rooms and spacious treatment rooms, all well-furnished with posh accent chairs. A couple of days ago, I did an anti-aging facial there. Read on to find out more about my experience!

Comprehensive beauty Services

Over here, they offer a variety of beauty treatments ranging from facials, eyebrow embroidery, eyelash extensions, body massages, body and facial waxing to slimming treatments. The beauty products they used are mainly from Maria Galland and Skeyndor which are high-quality, professional brands.

Spa Facilities

The tea corner, which leads to the treatment room, is very inviting with the display of glass tea pots and snacks. In addition to the herbal teas, you could also try their volcanic alkaline water which is obtained from Mount Gambier’s volcanic Blue Lake in beautiful South Australia.
After sipping some tea and filling up the particular form, I was brought around the salon for short tour to check out all the facilities. During the tour, I noticed that there were several large crystals which in almost every corner of the salon. These crystals purportedly enhance the flow of positive energy into our bodies. The sight of these crystals already makes me feel so much calmer.

90-minute Anti-aging Facial Treatment

After the short tour, I head to the treatment room where the therapist did the anti-aging facial treatment for me using their signature aesthetic machines called Venus Swan™. This revolutionary machine uses heat to boost collagen production and tone up the skin. It was my first time trying out this machine, and I have to say that it is overall quite effective. The effects are apparent on the third day after, where my cheeks appear to be more lifted.

The Facial Process

This facial does not include extraction. Like any other facials, it starts off with a double cleansing step which includes exfoliation using a scrub. This follows by the use of the Venus Swan™where the therapist would massage my skin in a circular motion with the device. This machine delivers Multi-Polar Radiofrequency and Pulsed Magnetic Fields which penetrates deep into the skin to produce a dense and uniform heat. Hence, you will feel the heating sensation on your skin along with slight electrical pulses. The device will gradually heat up to the optimal temperature of about 39 degree Celsius. However, if it gets too unbearable, you should inform the therapist about it, and she will adjust accordingly.

I find that the heat is somewhat bearable. The only discomfort is the tingling sensation caused by the magnetic pulses released by the device. It took me quite a while to get used to the sensation. Overall, it is a pain-free experience.
Like any other aesthetic treatments, it typically takes about 6 to 10 sessions to see noticeable results in your skin. Each treatment ends off with a soothing facial massage and facial mask. The therapist also did follow up with a neck and shoulder massage. It is a great way to end off the facial!
The best part? There’s no downtime, and my skin looks okay. The noticeable difference can be seen in the pores on my cheeks have shrunk, so my skin felt smoother and more supple.

Senses Spa’s 90-min Anti-Aging Facial is worth $680 per session. However, it will be more value for money to purchase their packages where each session would round up to be about $380 per session.
