I’ve visited Yunomori Onsen and Spa for a couple of times now and each time I was there, I would also leave this place feeling more energised and refreshed. And on our recent visit to Yunomori to check out their new Koshihikari Specialty Bath, we walked out of the onsen looking 10 years younger. Not to also mentioned that my troubled skin remained smooth and clear for almost a week after taking the onsen bath.

Need a mental or a physical boost?
Leave Your Shoes, Go Barefoot
Enter into Zen mode as you take off your shoes and walk barefoot towards the counter to sign in and exchange for a locker key. To me, walking barefoot on the hard concrete feels like home.
Enjoy Some Me-time
I picked up my favourite pink yukata and changed out of my clothes. And if you are shy of being naked in front of other women, you can opt to wear a disposable bra top and underwear to the onsen baths. I am thankful that they offered this option for the more conservative ladies here like myself. In that way, I can enjoy my me-time comfortably at the onsen.
From there, you will just need to bring along a small towel with you and enter the onsen bath area.
Looking Spick and Span
Yunomori Onsen and Spa had just celebrated their 3rd Anniversary since their opening in 2016. The changing rooms and spa facilities still look new, clean and very well maintained since then. Their service staff are always there ready to mop up any wet puddles or sweep up the hair falls, keeping the place looking spick and span. In that way, I was able to enjoy a clean changing room.
Take A Long Good Shower
Take a shower before and after dipping yourself in the onsen baths. You can take your own sweet time to scrub yourself down and enjoy a good shower before soaking into the onsen pools.
I enjoyed their pleasant-smelling bath products which made my showering experience so much more enjoyable.
Take A Dip in Their Koshihikari Bath
I would highly recommend that spend a few minutes in their steam room before soaking into the onsen baths. The hot steam will open the pores on your skin and warm up your body.
They recently installed a new onsen bath called Koshihikari bath which I truly enjoyed dipping in. Koshihikari is a popular Japanese rice variety which is commonly cultivated in Echigo, Niigata Prefecture of Japan. This bath features the Koshihikari rice bran extracts which help keep the skin supple and hydrated. It also helps to boost the skin’s elasticity. Doesn’t this remind you of SK-II’s miracle rice water? Imagine yourself dipping in a pool of the miracle water.
Talking about youth renewal, this bath has probably got us looking 10 years younger.
I was further impressed by this bath after realising that my acne-prone skin was pimple-free for the next 7 days. My skin also felt soft and smooth. Instead of going for a facial, I would much rather take the Koshihikari bath instead. Sadly, this bath is only available from 26 May to 30 June 2019. I am hoping that this bath would be one of the permanent onsen baths here at Yunomori.
Relieve Body Tension with a Massage
To complete your onsen and spa experience, you can do a facial or massage treatment right after dipping in their onsen baths. They got a good and experienced team of massage therapists who exerts the right amount of pressure to untie the knots in the body.
I went for a 90-minute aromatherapy massage and I could not get enough of it! It had helped me to loosen up my tight shoulder muscles and reduce water retention in my body.
You will also get to enjoy some warm ginger treat at the end of the therapeutic treatment.
Feed Your Soul
Last but not least, you can enjoy a hearty Japanese meal at their in-house cafe which serves Japanese-style hot meals, desserts, snacks and beverages.
That particular evening, we tried their new menu items for dinner. We had the Golden Lava Egg, Yuzu Mini Agadeshi Tofu, Chuka Platter, Debasaki (Chicken Wing), Tonkotsu Kogashi Ramen and Salted Egg Ebi Fry.
They also have an extensive beverage menu to choose from. We tried their new rose tea with honey and it was lovely.
Experiencing Japan in Our Little Red Dot
That evening, we both really felt like we were in a Japanese onsen bathhouse even though we are miles away from Japan. The warm atmosphere and pleasant service staff really made our onsen experience a memorable one.
I should be heading back there some time soon again.
