I finally see some light at the end of the tunnel. With Singapore moving from Covid-19 pandemic to endemic, we are anticipating more travel bubbles and the possibility of vaccinated travellers to travel without having to be quarantined. I am optimistic about the travel industry because all of us can’t wait to travel and explore the world. New hotels are still springing up everywhere around the world. And there’s one particular hotel opening in Chiang Mai which I am super excited for.
Meliá Chiang Mai
Following the hugely successful opening of Meliá Koh Samui, ranked TripAdvisor’s number one hotel in Koh Samui, Meliá Hotels International (a hotel group founded in Spain) will be opening another flagship hotel in Thailand, right at the heart of Chiang Mai.
Meliá Chiang Mai is slated to open business in the fourth quarter of 2021. I am keeping my fingers crossed because I am hoping to visit Thailand real soon! It would be even better if there’s an opportunity to check out one of Meliá Hotels in Asia.
Owned by Thailand’s leading integrated lifestyle real estate group Asset World Corporation (AWC) and launched by Meliá Hotels International, Meliá Chiang Mai towers over the River Ping and bustling Night Bazaar in the heart of Chiang Mai city in Thailand’s mountainous north.
This five-star hotel will be situated six kilometres from the Chiang Mai International Airport on the vibrant Charoen Prathet Road, located near tourist attractions, markets, and Buddhist temples. It has a total of 260 rooms and suites.
What to expect?
The hotel will also comprise a striking 22-floor tower fronted by an adjoining seven-floor podium building. It houses two restaurants, two bars, two lounges (including an executive lounge on the 21st floor with a panoramic view of Chiang Mai), Meliá’s signature YHI Spa, a fully equipped fitness center, swimming pool, ballroom and four other meeting spaces.
The two bars are connected by a glass bridge and one of them is a 360-degree rooftop bar – the highest in the city – located on the 22nd floor of the hotel. This rooftop bar will offer spectacular views of the River Ping to the city’s east and famed Doi Suthep Temple on the mountaintop to the west.
‘The Level’
38 rooms and six suites will belong to ‘The Level’ where guests can experience an upgraded level of service and benefits and have exclusive access to The Level executive lounge, It would be an intimate area for guests to indulge an upgraded breakfast and afternoon delicacies. The lounge is also suited for casual business meetings. There’s also ‘The Level Presidential Suite’ which will command 113 sqm of the tower’s top floor.
Let’s all keep our fingers crossed so that travel can resume soon and we have more places to chill and explore other than being stuck at home.
