I swear by facial treatments especially for my skin that clogs very easily due to my enlarged pores. However, there’s always this one withdrawing factor that have me dragging my feet to the beauty salon for facial. That is EXTRACTION! It can be super painful for me because my pores are always clogged and occasionally, I would have some breakouts at the side of my cheeks and forehead. But extraction is an essential step to extract out the gunk left the pores otherwise acne would arise. And I noticed that there are a growing number of treatments that ousted the traditional manual way of facial extraction. Instead, they rely on technology and gadgets to vacuum out the white and black heads. It’s not only pain-free but also highly efficient. One of such treatment is the hydrafacial which I did tried out the treatment today at Scinn Medical Centre located at Orchard.
Scinn Medical Centre is new medical aesthetic centre launched by Mary Chia Holdings which uses state-of-the-art equipment for medi-aesthetic treatments which are fast and effective. Some of the signature treatments are CoolSculpting®, Ultherapy®, BBL (BroadBand light treatment) and hydrafacial.

BroadBand Light
and Ultherapy®
Whether it is skin aging woes, weight loss or pigmentation problems, there’s a wide range of treatments combining medical expertise and FDA-approved equippment.
The hydrafacial treatment lasted for about an hour and it is shorter than usual facials which can last up to 3 hours. It is a fast and quick facial especially during lunch time where you could come for a quick facial, grab a quick bite and head back to work.
This facial helps to rejuvenate, detoxify and brighten up the skin with no downtime or discomfort. There are 4 steps to this facial: Cleansing and exfoliation, gentle acid peel, automated extractions and hydration. This treatment uses a series of patented HydroPeel tips that has multiple abrasive edges to exfoliate the skin to achieve better results. You will also experience this suction or vortex effect that removes impurities from the pores. However, it is quite comfortable and it feel like those diamond peel treatment except that it is less abrasive than diamond peel. Once the automated extractions are done, your skin is pump up with antioxidants and hyaluronic acid to replenish moisture. Last but not least, the treatment ended with an eye mask and face mask to soothe the skin.
Caution: This is how much dead skin debris and gunk extracted from my skin. Yucks!
Overall, the treatment was very comfortable and my skin felt softer and smoother in texture. There’s slight redness during the treatment itself but it was all gone after putting the mask. It is definitely less invasive as compared to other treatments and I believe after a few concurrent hydrafacials, you would be able to witness a better result.
The medical centre also has a room for BBL treatments which is performed by a certified medical doctor after consultation. They also have a room for coolsculpting treatments that freeze stubborn fats.
