Due to our humid and dry climate, our skin and hair gets dry and frizzy very easily here in Singapore. We all face the same problem, don’t we? On a sunny island with heaps of sunshine, we get to enjoy warmth but at the same time suffers from dryness in our skin and hair in particular. You could never go without a hair treatment product and conditioner here in Singapore. As least for myself, I needed a ‘moisturizer’ just for my hair to tame the frizz.
One of the more household brand of hair care products here in Singapore is Essential. Though it is a popular Japanese brand of hair products, it is rather well-known here too for its availability and affordability.
This September, Essential relaunches its Leave-On Treatment range with the brand new CC Oil and Night Care Milk. It’s timely because my hair was frizzy up alot with the recent haze filling up our skies.
Besides the weather, our everyday habits such as hair styling, colouring and perming also damages the hair and strips away its natural moisture. Even pillow friction can also weakens and damages your hair over some time.

I’m not new to Essential Night care milk and have used their older version. Their new formulated Night Care Milk is quite impressive this time. It has a lighter and more weightless texture which does leave the hair feeling greasy at all.

What the Essential Night Care Milk essentially does is to protect the hair from “Pillow Friction”, intensively repairs and moisturizes the hair at night. Coupled with cuticle coat protection ingredients, it prevents the friction caused between the hair and your pillow covers. It is like a leave-on treatment conditioner to nourish and moisturize the hair.
You can use on towel-dried, damp hair or dry hair (before blow-drying).
Pump a 5-cent coin amount onto palm then spread and apply evenly onto hair, concentrating on mid-length to tip of hair. Make sure all the product is spread out evenly to each hair strand and that your hair is dry before you hit the bed.
Retail Price: S$11.90

The new Essential product that causes my eyelids to bat is their  Essential CC Oil that stands for Cuticle Care oil.  Like CC cream in skincare, it carries the multi-functional concept where it is one product that is able to produce multiple effects. One bottle of oil to protect your hair against 5 different kinds of stresses. It is meant to be applied in the morning and any time during the day.

What are the 5 stresses of hair?

1. Cruel combing

Combing through wet hair causes great hair damage as the hair follicle is at
is most fragile state. Likewise, the friction caused by coming through dry hair
can form tangles. So I suggest combing your hair when it is slightly damp.

2. Brazen Blow Drying

They say blow dry til your hair is semi-dry to not evaporate all the moisture in the hair.

3. Despicable Dryness

Exposure to the sun, wind or even air-conditioning can result in hair dryness. So, don’t stay too long even in air-conditioned rooms. Spend some time outdoors but with your hair coated with hair care products to protect it against from environmental stress.

4. Split ends

Split ends are caused by the fraying of hair shaft due to dry and brittle hair. Conditions your hair often and use a hair treatment mask once a week to nourish the hair.

5. Hair Breakage

Last but not least, hair breakage caused by seemingly
harmless actions like tying your hair into a tight ponytail or twirling your hair
with your fingers. These everyday habits exert excessive stress on your hair, resulting in hair
breakage. So, I try not to tie up my hair too much these days unless I’m working out in the gym.
Remove these stresses with a nice hair massage, starting from the mid-length of the hair to the hair ends, using hair care products like Essential CC oil. The pleasant scent of the product also calms us down.
Surprisingly, the product itself is very affordable give it’s volume. A little is all you need and I believe it will last for a long time.
