As mentioned in my previous post, Raw vegans usually consume a HUGE bowl of salads in the evening for dinner. It’s not just a big bowl of greens. It’s really GIGANTIC, about twice the size of your round face. But for me, I couldn’t stomach that much greens yet so I’m just going for a twice the portion of my usual salad size. Even then, I couldn’t finish everything!
What’s in my salad bowl?
Steamed Broccoli, carrots, cherry tomatoes, lettuce, celery, baby spinach, red bell peppers, green bell peppers and yellow bell peppers.
(*Note: It is very difficult for the body to digest raw broccoli so I would usually steam or boil it til its partially soft. If you are insist of going strictly raw, just opt for another vegetable instead.
Sometimes, when I have less time to prepare my own salad dressing, I will purchase this organic sunflower dressing by Melrose that tasted super good! It’s one of the best organic salad dressing I’ve tasted by far. It is also vegan-friendly as it doesn’t contains egg or milk in it.
But what I usually like to do is to blend 2 tablespoons of sunflower oil dressing with a teaspoon of pure sesame oil and 3 tablespoons of orange juice. The sesame seed oil makes the overall salad dressing tasted extremely savoury, tasty and ‘Asian’. So if you are craving something oriental like Chinese food, I suggest that you can try making this orange sesame dressing.
Orange Sesame Dressing
1 teaspoon of Pure sesame seed oil
(or use raw sesame seeds)
2 tablespoons of Sunflower oil dressing by Melrose
(or use raw cashews / avocado for some healthy fats)
5 tablespoons of orange juice
Rainbow Salad Bowl
1/3 Red bell pepper
1/3 Green bell pepper
1/3 yellow bell pepper
Some Cherry tomatoes
1/2 cup of Baby Spinach
1/2 cup of Green lettuce
1/2 cup of steamed Broccoli (or other raw greens)
1/4 cup of Celery
( or any raw vegetables/fruits of your choice)
Drizzle the orange sesame dressing over the salad and enjoy!
Use a pair of chopsticks!
