When menacing dark clouds and darkness envelops you, don’t lose that flicker of hope just yet. When you are spending your darkest hour all alone, just remember that you are fortunate enough receive light even as the sky turns dark. With that source of light above your head, you are able to work on and salvage whatever problems you might face. But not for the 1.3 billion people who do not have access to clean electricity. For these people, it’s impossible for them to go against the forces of nature. Could you imagine what it’s like for doctors to operate patients during an emergency in the dark? Light for these people is a luxury indeed.
To eliminate darkness and give a glimpse of light and hope to these communities, Panasonic had launched the Project Cut Out the Darkness “(” Ending the darkness “) – getting everyone to be involve in creating designs for the solar lanterns which are to be donated to the ones whose hopes are pin upon these sources of light.

It’s a meaningful initiative by this multinational electronics corporation to play a part in making this world a better place to live in. Many of the communities, in developing countries of Asia and Africa, use kerosene lamps for lighting but these lamps releases smoke that is harmful to both human health and environment.
To solve this problem and to make clean energy more accessible to such countries, Panasonic has developed solar lanterns which allow users to carry electricity during the day, storing that energy in a secondary battery to use it during the night.
