Finally, we’ve come to the last day of FIDé Fashion Weeks 2013 where the highlight of the fashion show is none other than Julien Fourné For Love Bonito. It’s probably one of the foremost first fashion collaboration between a couture designer with a local blogshop label. Who would have thought that blogshop fashion could be brought together with couture on the runway? As exciting as it sounds, many people were gathered here that evening to witness this historical moment. It has attracted the attention of Mediacorp celebrities too.
It came as a pleasant surprise to me when I saw my childhood idol, Fann Wong! I would collect photos, pictures and magazine articles of her and file it neatly into a folder. It keeps me happy to just look at her photographs where I would marvel at her beauty. Gosh, those were the days! Being her crazy fan then, I never really got to meet her in person but if I were to meet her in person then, there might be some tears welling up in my eyes. Anyway, my craze over my past idols have died after coming to the realization that they are after all humans, just like you and I.
Fifteen years later, she still glows and sparkles like a superstar and the camera simply adores her. Even the Queen of caldecott, Zoe Tay was present that evening. Oh, and there’s Sharon Au seated next to a lady in purple gown. It was a star-studded evening with the several Mediacorp artistes and celebrity bloggers coming down for the Julien Fourné For Love Bonito.
The photographers just couldn’t stop snapping away as the two top-notch Singapore celebrities smiled gracefully even as the photographers try to intrude into their privacy by stationing themselves there and went clicking away with their camera shutter buttons. I’m guilty of it too but their faces make my photographs worth like a million bucks and I just had to capture that perfect shot before I take a step back.
This year, Fann Wong is 42-years-old! Yes, she is in her forties but she is still looking crazily stunning as ever. She’s probably glowing in love after her sweet marriage with the man of her dreams, Christopher Lee.
Sharon Au used to be really funny on TV with her hilarious and quick-witted remarks. But these days, I felt that she has stepped away from the limelight, appearing less often on television after returning from Japan. I really wonder what she is currently doing right now.
Ahhh… and there’s Xiaxue, a local celebrity blogger whom I’ve seen a couple of times during events but yet to talk or meet her in person. Though she can be really direct and blatant with her remarks she wrote online, I still do believe that there’s something pleasant and beautiful about this petite pink-hair lady who is now a mum.
Fann wanted her assistant to pass her the mobile so that she could take a selfie with Zoe! She’s actually very active in the social media scene.
Right across the runway, I spotted Jeannie Mai who has been appearing for several of the fashion shows held during FIDé Fashion Weeks 2013. She’s always looking so glamorous, so perfect and dolled up for any occasions. I used to watch her on ‘How do I look?’, an American TV programme by StyleNetwork where she would play the role of a host and a fashion expert to the participants of the TV show. Her radiant smile and friendly personality made her a media darling.
Introducing the junior league of Mediacorp – Kimberly Chia,Xu Bing, Julie Tan and Ian Fang.
And the most highly anticipating fashion show was about to begin… like finally.

Well, well, well. What do I think of this runway collection by Love Bonito? Thankfully, it is designed to be made more wearable than ‘haute couture’. It was more of ‘Love Bonito’ than Julien Fourné where their collection encompasses of the elements of the latest fashion trends in the blogshop world. If you are a frequent shopper or a fan of Love Bonito, you will know what I mean.
Love Bonito’s signature garments are their dresses which were usually figure-hugging to bring out the silhouette and elegance of a women, and also made very chic and simple, to bring out the true beauty and sophistication of a woman. The cutting and material is more important than the prints or colours. Just some sparkles at the shirt cuffs or shoulder pad area is all it needs to these versatile outfits so wearable for any occasions and so loved by Singaporean women who wants to feel safe and comfortable in their dresses but not looking too ‘over-the-top’.
I have no idea how Julien Fourné’s inspiration comes in but his ideas and inputs has made this Love Bonito’s collection a little more bold than their usual blogshop-type of garments. It could be the intricate lace details which seemed more ‘french’ and ‘romantique’ or the colourful rainbow star printed tees. Whatever it is, this collaboration between a local blogshop and a French designer has certainly more ‘doors’ for Singaporean women to venture into the world of fashion and slowly transforming our city into an upcoming fashion hub in Asia. I believe that there would also be more upcoming local fashion designers making big in the fashion landscape.
Who says we are boring?
Who knows, we might be the next ‘Paris’ in Asia.

Julien looked like the happiest man on earth, while embracing two lovely entrepreneurs who were the creators of Love Bonito.
After the whole fashion show has come to an end, Frank Cintamani, the founder of Asian Couture Federation made a short thank you speech to all the people involved in making this event possible.
Daniel Boey threw his hands up happily in the air! He is a familiar face on television and is quipped as the Godfather of fashion in Singapore. You might have seem him appearing as a judge and fashion director in Asia’s Next Top Model TV show.
