This marks the year of Jubilee and also the year of Rooster which probably another year of good tidings. The joy that we Singaporeans are enjoying has transcended into this festive abundance where massive crowds of people spending lavishly on Chinese New Year goodies in Chinatown and queuing up for hours just to get their hands on some traditional barbecue pork. To usher in the year of the Rooster, rest in the arms of God and eat. You can now enjoy a prosperity feast at places in Singapore like PARKROYAL on Beach Road as their Executive Chef Ken Ang dishes out both local and Asian food at their all-day dining restaurant, Plaza Brasserie.
It’s my first time visiting Plaza Brasserie at PARKROYAL on Beach road which is about a 10-minute walk from Bugis MRT station. It is located close to the entrance of the hotel on level 1 and the dining area is pretty spacious.
In this year’s Chinese New Year Menu, they will be offering some of Chef Ken’s master rendition of Fa Cai Yu Sheng with interesting additions such as deep-fried salmon skin and deep-fried chicken skin. The other must-tries are the Wings of Fortune in Four flavours – Spicy, Soya, Garlic and Salted Egg alongside with their signature Crispy Soft Shell Crab with Tobiko Mayo, Braised Sea cucumber with roasted pork, Boneless Duck with Eight Treasures, Deep Fried Pork Belly with Preserved Red Beancurd and Stir Fried King Prawns with Honey Rock sugar.
The food served there is more localized and carries a strong Asian flavor. Those who love eating Asian food would enjoy the buffet spread there. Their meat dishes like the Chicken and seafood were good.
They’ve got quite a selection of food but there isn’t much variety for each food station. Their dessert bar, for instance, is limited to some Nyonya kuehs and a few cakes like banana cake and Cheese cake.
They score better when it comes to the mains, soups, and salads. I particularly like the fact that they do offer the brown rice to guests who prefer the healthier option.

During the CNY season, there will also be a special appearance by “Cai Shen Ye” (God of Fortune) during dinner on Chinese New Year Eve and lunch on the first day of Chinese New Year at Plaza Brassiere, welcoming and distributing chocolate gold coins to the guests. And if you drop by for a buffet in the evening, you will receive a CNY gift set which includes two oranges and a red packet on the eve and first day of CNY.
They also have another section where they serve Yu Sheng, Satay, Beef Noodles and Japanese food.

The Chinese New Year Prosperity feast at Plaza Brasserie is available from 16 January 2017 to 11 February 2017 for lunch from 12.00 pm to 2.30 pm, and dinner from 6.00 pm to 10.00 pm.
This season will be a great opportunity to invite your family, relatives, and friends over for a buffet dinner and do some great catching up.
