So maybe Singapore isn’t such a dull place anymore since we have an expanding water theme park with new rides! It’s my first time at Wild Wild Wet and I was little apprehensive at first because I’ve not sat thrill rides for a really long time. When I was younger, I couldn’t take roller coaster ride but I enjoyed water rides as I love having water splashed right into my face.
This water park isn’t just for families, children and teens but it is also a great place for couples to do something fun and thrilling together. It’s definitely more exhilarating than the usual dinner and movies dates.
As of today, there are two new water rides at Wild Wild Wet and they prove to be pretty popular with the park goers during the weekend. The two latest adrenaline-pumping water rides are the Royal Flush and Free Fall. I didn’t have guts to try the Free Fall but I went for the Royal Flush and it’s actually one of the best water rides among the other water rides in the park.
Royal Flush
This is a group ride (minimum 2 pax, maximum 4 pax) where you will be seated on a float with handles. The fast-moving waters will send you swirling down a Behemoth bowl or water basin followed by a stomach-churning drop which brings up on the TornadoWAVE, where you will be washed high up against the wave board. I almost felt like I was flung out of the float during that sudden sharp drop. Thank goodness it’s quite a short ride because before you know it, the ride has ended. It was an interesting hybrid right I must say!
Free Fall
The free fall ride allows you to move like the speed of light through the waters. It’s Singapore’s first near-vertical full-body drop at up to 55km/hour stands at six storeys high. If you are a dare-devil, you should not miss this! You should also try the Torpedo where you get to experience that sudden drop from four-storeys high. That could be the most thrilling ride over at Wild Wild Wet.
But if you can’t stomach all the thrilling rides, you can go for the more family-friendly rides like Shiok River and Tsunami. Or you could chill at Kid-friendly pools like Kid Zone and Splash Play.
Below are some of the rides which we’ve tried and tested!
Shiok River
It’s like a lazy river where you just grab a float or life vest and sail through the winding river. It’s great if you would like to do some sunbathing for yourself.
Slide up
You get to enjoy that short burst of excitement when you are washed high up the four-storey ramp. It’s not as scary as Royal flush because it lasted only for a few seconds or so.
The Waterworks
This is a classic open and covered slide with some turns and drops. For beginners, you can take this as warm-up rides for more crazy water rides.
Tsunami
This just a huge pool with gentle Tsunami waves. You will be bobbed up and down the water on your float.
After introducing the rides, let’s talk about some facilities over at Wild Wild Wet. We like the fact that there are life vest available throughout the park and they are sort out according to sizes. They do provide floats at Tsunami and Shiok River but if you prefer having a fancy float for pictures, then you can rent one at their rental counter in the water park.
The water park is part of Downtown East, which housed an integrated nature-inspired resort and E!Avenue where there are many F&B options for visitors. It would be pretty cool to have a staycation at one of their resorts some day!
There is a cafe within the park and drink vending machines but we wish that they provide water coolers as the weather in Singapore can get really hot. To prevent dehydration, we would really need to hydrate ourselves with water.
There were locker rental services provided. It costs about $4 to rent a locker and you can pay via NETTS or cash.
We were grateful that the toilets looked new and clean. It was also very spacious and there were many shower cubicles so you don’t have to wait for your turn to get a quick shower.
I appreciate the fact that there was a shelf in each cubicle for us to store our bags or items without getting it wet. The last thing we want is to get our belongings soaking wet. With this partitioned shelf, I can easily placed my bag with my valuables in the cubicle with me without having to leave it outside.
That Sunday was exceptionally hot so we didn’t spend that many hours under the sun. Slap lots of sunblock for sure! We spent about 2 and a half hours in there.
