How I ‘Marie Kondo-ed’ My Bedroom

You have probably heard about Marie Kondo at this point in time. This Japanese tidying expert has suddenly become this online international sensation after her Netflix show, “Tidying up with Marie Kondo” became a hit. The #myKonMari Movement I personally have not watched her show on Netflix but I got to know about her methods of tidying through another YouTuber who happened to share about how she had incorporated the KonMari methods into her lifestyle. It was only then that I realised there were many people around the world who were already embarking on this #myKonMari movement. It’s pretty phenomenal, I must say, as I’m still constantly seeing online articles…

    Flowers-In-A-Box

Flowers In A Box Springtime in Israel is beautiful. When I was traveling there two weeks ago, I saw so many pretty gorgeous-looking flowers blooming everywhere – from the sidewalk to the bushes along the roadside. I just wish that we could have wild roses and lavender growing everywhere in Singapore. Our streets would smell more pleasant with the natural floral fragrance. As of now, we could only visit the Flower Dome at Gardens by The Bay to admire the beauty of flowers or purchase exotic flowers from floral boutiques or florists. Recently, I received a box of lovely flowers from Floral Garage Singapore, and it includes some exotic flowers…

    Flower Care with Floraison Studio

Flower Care For my previous bouquets, my mother is usually the one to trim the flowers and change the water. But this time, I decided to do it myself just to find out which types of flowers last longer and how much time it takes to maintain the flowers each day. I first remove all the paper wrappings carefully so that I could recycle them or reuse as gift wrappers. Thankfully, Floraison uses minimal paper wrappings and these wrappings, including the strings, are reusable. The base of the flower stalks are usually wrapped with damp cotton wool and are secured with a plastic wrap and some scotch tape.  To remove…

    The Flower Language

Sending flowers to someone is akin to sending a message as flowers are infused with symbols and meaning. When you receive exotic flowers like tulip from someone, what is the messenger trying to imply? I had just received a customised bouquet from Litte Flower Hut.  It consists a medley of Veronica, Rose, Ranunculus, Tulip, and Green bell. It looks amazing, but I wonder what it meant. Through flowers, we can express our heartfelt feelings which are sometimes quite difficult to put into words. Understanding this flower language (or Floriography) is important as you wouldn’t want to be sending funeral flowers like yellow Chrysanthum to your spouse on a special occasion. Here’s a list of…

Center Pottery : Potters With A Heart

Our country is like a jewel that shines from a million facets. We’ve got skyscrapers and the state-of-the-art buildings with stunning modern architectures. At the same time, we’ve got rustic forested areas which would transport you back in time to the fifties. We’ve got urbanites taking part in the rat race as well as our everyday heroes and kind souls which worked selfishly for our society. For that matter of fact, our nation is truly unique. The kind souls are working among us. They often go unheard of because their voices get drowned by other businesses which are largely driven by profits. Organizations who see value in making a social…

5 Simple Ways to Keep Your Flowers Last Longer

I love receiving flowers. They are an emblem of beauty, love and appreciation. They add a pop of colour to your surroundings and a lingering scent of nature that freshens up the surrounding air. But every time I receive flowers, I would experience mixed emotions. I was elated yet at the same time feeling sad that the flowers would eventually end up in the dustbins. Flowers bring joy and how I wish the flowers could last forever! But I guess, like life, tangible things aren’t eternal. But while these flowers are still alive – radiating their natural beauty, we should enjoy it as much as we can. So…
